Foster is maintaining that he has no fears about the team leaving, not with the Rays contracted to play in St. Petersburg until 2027 at Tropicana Field, even though nobody believes the Rays will ever stay that long in the park.

Tampa Latino groups to protest new Arizona immigration law at Rays game on Friday
Activists had called on Major League Baseball Commissioner Bud Selig to pull the 2011 All-Star game out of Phoenix. He has refused that request. Nevertheless, with approximately 28% of MLB made up of Latin American players, protests to persuade Selig to change his mind continue (Some Latino stars, like San Diego's Adrian Gonzalez, have criticized the law and said if selected he would not play in the game).

A possible game changer? Hillsborough County Commission invites ABC group to discuss possible sites for new Rays stadium
where's the money for a new stadium going to come from? That is the question that of course underlies all of this talk, which is barely that for the moment. Hillsborough County is of course currently wrapped up inside itself over putting a ballot measure for a one cent sales tax to pay for transit projects. How much would the private sector pay? The Rays have shown in the past that they are willing to pay some, but certainly not all of the costs for a new park.

The pay-per-view sports event we would all like to see
Hey, I have ideas too. Good ones sometimes. And just like every other sports fan, I have unanswered questions. In the wake of Mark McGwire’s steroid confession, the impact of which will soon fade, I thought of a pay-per-view opportunity that would make the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight (that’s not going to happen) pale in comparison.

I don’t like movies that are predictable. Scriptwriters may try to pull the wool over our eyes, but the American public is not stupid. We might be disinterested. We might be overweight. But we know what we like. Entertain us. Just don’t lie, don’t cheat and don’t mislead. Take Mark McGwire for example. Is there a baseball fan in America that for one second doubted he was on steroids? His announcement was followed by a collectively sarcastic, “Oh, really.”

Presenting the 2009 McChumpies: The best and worst of a year in sports
After seeing Tiger Woods win AP Athlete of the Decade in light of his recent controversy and Serena Williams win the AP Female Athlete of the Year with images of her berating a line judge still fresh in our minds, I thought to myself, why not have my own awards ceremony. After all, my selections seem just as credible as any other sports pundit's.
