Gulfport's Three Muses & A Fool are with a new cycle of 10-minute plays. In 2012, the company staged On my mind…, and in a similar vein, longtime Gulfport producer-director Ciara Carinci is debuting a new collection of vignettes in the Alley of the Arts but this time with a twist: Prohibited from staging their shows inside the Schork-Munsell studios’ custom black-box theatre, Carinci has devised an outdoor black-box — "an exciting and unexpected variation on the traditional, intimate venue."
A resident of Gulfport since the mid ‘90s, Carinci established herself early as one of the city’s more prominent theatre producers with her well-attended and highly regarded avante garde “theater walks”. The evening will be led by a cranky mannequin and a slightly addled former burlesque star, and will feature five plays staring Carinci and frequent collaborator Peter Suarez. One of the plays, “Parsley”, about a girl and her friends Tea Cup, Tape Recorder, and Chair — was written by Carinci and will be premiering here. the TM&AF crew will be rounded out by costumer Mary Joyner, stage techs Ian Tracey and Stone Handy and others. Refreshments will be available before the show and during a brief intermission. Some of the props, which will be produced by local artists as free-standing sculptural items, will also be made available in a series of silent auctions. Look for Three Muses & A Fool on Facebook.
