Vicarious travel agent: At her monthly Travelogues events, Moccio presents a slate of different travelers sharing animated, unconventional stories and slideshows about their stays in far-flung destinations.
Word girl: With the funding assistance of Hampton Arts Mgmt’s Think Small to Think Big microfunding program, Moccio founded Vessel Collective (vesselcollective.com), an online resource for essays, interviews and event information.
UT grad: Born on Long Island, Moccio moved to Englewood, a small beach town, when she was 6, and relocated to Tampa for college in 2007 at the University of Tampa. She graduated in 2011 with a communications degree, has coordinated an art exhibition and “interviewed a lot of folks.”
Her advice for would-be writers: “Be accepting to the way that your writing and interests change over time; you’ll be better and more content if you do.”
Inspired by inspiration: “It’s wonderful to dream something up and then match the idea with solid plans and gumption to make it into something that lives and breathes out in the world — even if for only an evening.”
Fur babies: Moccio and her boyfriend, James DeFord, are the proud parents of Finn, a black-and-gray-striped cat, and they aspire to adopt a greyhound, which they will name Lulu.
