2014 Tweed Ride

When: Sat., Feb. 15, 3 p.m. 2014
One of St. Pete’s loveliest and most whimsical retro-fun events is back. Don your finest turn-of-the-century-inspired vintage threads and roll up for the 2014 Tweed Ride, a ruffly, beardy, leisurely bike ride in and around the scenic downtown. Afterward, partcipants are invited to gather at the Shuffleboard Club for a party with food, craft beer from Cycle Brewing and live music by The Buster Cooper Trio (in case you’re not familiar, Cooper is a local trombonist who performed with Duke Ellington’s band). A photobooth will be provided by Diana Leavengood, and non-riders are welcome to the celebration. We reckon that a jazz legend, good brew and fine-looking ladies and chaps will make this the dandiest spree north of the Skyway Saturday night. Feb. 15, registration begins at 3 p.m. at the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, 559 Mirror Lake Drive N., St. Petersburg. Ride starts at 4 p.m. After party is 5-9 p.m. $15, $10 for club members. —Julie Garisto
