South Tampa's Perk's Donut Bar has transformed into Mini Doughnut Factory. The neighborhood doughnut shop will introduce the region to its new owners and concept during a soft opening from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
Opened by Shane and Katie Perkey in 2014, the year the confectionary at 2109 S. Dale Mabry Highway took home a BOTB award, Perk's showcased custom made-to-order doughnuts in gluten-free and classic cake varieties.
Mini Doughnut owners Patrick and Zezura Ruddell plan to "shrinkerize" the Perk's creations (including the gluten-free doughnuts) to offer, as its name suggests, miniature doughnuts. Smoothies, cold-brew coffee on tap, chai tea, mixed espresso drinks, milk products from Myakka City's Dakin Dairy Farms, and doughnut sundaes and shakes will also be showcased.
"The past couple of years have been an exceptional journey in the small business and donut world," Perk's wrote on Facebook. "We have truly enjoyed and appreciated all of the customers, staff, family, and friends who supported us in this endeavor."
