On Wednesday, Hyde Park Village announced Goody Goody, the iconic burger concept that the Columbia Restaurant Group's bringing back to Tampa, as its newest tenant at 1601 W. Swann Ave., near the landmark eatery's original location.

The group acquired the burger brand, launched in 1925, from its then-owner Michael Wheeler in October last year. While the first Goody Goodys were drive-in-style, the reinvented restaurant, nestled on the same block as CinéBistro, will be fast-casual with table service.

"I'm ecstatic to bring back this Tampa tradition," said Columbia Restaurant Group President Richard Gonzmart in a press release. "Goody Goody is one of those places that helped create Tampa's identity."

Run by operating partner Marc Zudar, the Hyde Park Goody Goody will showcase the restaurant's secret sauce, burgers using Strickland Ranch beef, fresh-cut fries and much-loved butterscotch pie.

The Goody Goody brand closed its doors to Tampa 10 years ago. According to the release, an opening date will be unveiled in the coming months.

Next year, the restaurant group also plans to open an Ybor City Sicilian joint called Casa Santo Stefano.
