Kinda blues

Music
Friday, April 20

The Midwest has birthed any number of blues rock outfits, most recently, the psychedelic-minded Radio Moscow, which takes its cue from the heavy power trios of the late 1960s with giant riffs, fuzzy bass and robust, stomping tempos. The Iowa trio is fronted by 22-year-old guitarist/singer Parker Griggs, who was responsible for the majority of the songwriting on the band's recent self-titled debut. Released by Alive Records -- home to the Black Keys and Black Diamond Heavies -- and produced and engineered by Keys guitarist/singer Dan Auerbach, the album is a heady mix of powerhouse instrumentals, rootsy acoustic blues numbers and lo-fi garage romps, sometimes marked by wah-wah or slide guitar or even sitar. Radio Moscow headlines a "420" show at Crowbar tonight with support by locals Poetry n' Lotion, Acho Brother and MesMusic. Pot smoking is not required. Fri., April 20, 9 p.m., New World Brewery, 1313 Eighth Ave. E., Ybor City, $7, 813-248-4969, aestheticized.com.
