Re: “Growler legalization could be uphill battle

Hey Bek, gallon growlers are legal. It's the standard sized 64-ounce growler that has no tax designation under Florida law currently.

Re: “Growler legalization could be uphill battle

How come I have been able to fill up gallon growlers at TBBC as well as Cigar City?

Re: “Mitch Perry Report 3.28.13 - Charlie Crist to announce his candidacy for governor in Tampa on May 11?

If Crist does intend to run for Governor and wishes to announces his intentions before the Summer (and before Alex Sink), what better time and place could there be for him to do so than at this event?

First of all, it will be on his home turf of Tampa Bay. He’ll know elected officials, the donors, and the reporters. He’ll probably know the valet staff at the Tampa Convention Center, where the event will be held.

Second, Crist’s most loyal Democratic allies will be in attendance. Rep. Darryl Rouson will be there. County Commissioner Ken Welch will be there. Crist’s friends from DC, NYC and Miami can jet into Tampa International Airport. So many of Crist’s supporters will be there, all in one place.

Third, May 11 is after the 2013 Legislative Session concludes. Lord knows Charlie doesn’t like sharing the stage — or a news cycle — with anyone else, especially his former Republican colleagues in Tallahassee.

I am sure there other reasons why this platform is the ideal choice for Crist to make “The Announcement.”

Something tells me Charlie has had a plan all along…

So multimillion dollar consortium of distributors is trying to stop the bill to prevent consumers from cutting out the middleman (them).

Re: “Rainbow411 — Connecting the LGBT community with LGBT-friendly businesses

This is by far not true. As a business man I dealt with this company and it did nothing for my business. Once these guys realized I was not going to sign up at the end of my contract they became hostile and quite rude to say the least. I will never recommend them to any of my fellow businessmen. I am a friend to the community although I myself am not gay, I am gay friendly and I support all gay issues as should many of my friends, neighbors alike. These two men simply do not deliver on what they say they are going to deliver and their shows do not bring insight at all. They may have a concept, they just do not know how to follow thru. It was a complete waste of time. I would have been better off buying a lemon from a car dealership. Same spiel but at least I would have ended up with an actual product.

Re: “Daniel Ruth to return to the Tampa Bay area radio

I liked listening to Mr. Ruth on WFLA until he lost his way and became caustic. Hopefully he has modified his 'Mark Levin Style' and I will once again enjoy his show.

Re: “Transportation for Hillsborough; the games must end

Sounds good but the blame is in the wrong place, as the Federal Highway Bill of 2009 known as Safetea-Lu gives delvelopers a tax break from Impact Fees for simply building curb cuts for future Transit development. And we continue to elect Over Tax Conscious Politicians who are afraid to touch the Ad-Valorem Tax (even though Florida Law requires them too in order to balance the budget) or they are afraid to replace the Ad-Valorem with a Sales Tax.

Re: “Interview with local filmmaker Arlen Slobodow about In The Air, a documentary about the air pollution, our health, and the environment in Tampa Bay

I made this video four years ago. I thought we'd be regulating carbon emissions by now. Never underestimate the desire of the power elite to ignore environmental threats, and carry on as usual.

So sorry to hear this news, but Eli's ribs will live on through Eric. You "reap what you sow" and Eli's legacy is assured as long as BBQ aficionados can make their way to the Pinelllas trail each Friday and Saturday . . . which I'm sure is a long time to come.

Re: “Hillsborough County Commission greenlights new committee to study transit options

county and city were mocked mercilessly last year during the Republican National Convention for the lack of transportation options....oh ? they all hired their own buses to get from hotel to convention and back. never had time to see tampa or patronize local business.
Sharpe said there are "no preset conditions other than to recognize what is obvious: We have a serious problem." ummm perpetual construction doesn't solve congestion it adds to it and you will never be satisfied.
Supporters who pushed for the transit tax that would have propelled the construction of a light-rail system in the county were stunned after the measure went down in a landslide defeat ummm you morons just don't get it do you?
Orlando is building a SunRail system, and there is a flood of money going into transit-oriented development where that system is being constructed. yea...with taxpayer money and the DOT said all along orlando can't support or need sunrail

perpetual road construction will never stop congestion but lets raise taxes and build even more roads and cough cough light rail to ease it...soooo in your lifetime, a lifetime of congestion

Re: “Florida moving closer to passing fetal personhood law?

The bill explicitly exempts abortion (see below). Pro-aborts can't stand the thought of recognizing an unborn baby as a victim.

This subsection does not permit the prosecution:
51 1. Of any person for conduct relating to an abortion for
52 which the consent of the pregnant woman, or a person authorized
53 by law to act on her behalf, has been obtained or for which such
54 consent is implied by law;

Re: “Floridians support gun-control measures that Legislature isn't backing

Again with this garbage "poll"...

The poll didn't explain how exactly the questions were worded, what demographics were targeted, what income levels, what areas of the state, and what criteria were used for selection other than being registered to vote. Junk science, at its finest.

Re: “Floridians support gun-control measures that Legislature isn't backing

57 - 33 percent that gun ownership in Florida does more to protect people from crime than to put them at risk.
Newtown (sandy hook) in recent years has issued about 130 gun permits annually. Police say the town received 79 permit applications in the three months since the Dec. 14 massacre, well over double the normal pace.
"A good percentage of people are making it clear they think their rights are going to be taken away," said Robert Berkins, records manager for Newtown police.

Re: “Hillsborough County Commissioners again reject domestic partner registry

The way forward really seems to have taken very clear shape: Higginbotham, Murman, Crist and Hagan must be purged from public life. They must be refused any further public office. Everyone must work to ensure their individual defeat in any further races any may undertake. They must be kept from serving in any public office again.

And the community needs to get serious about turning out the voters in all future elections to bring about this goal. Young people in particular can make this happen. Only people fully committed to the principal of equality for everyone can be permitted to make laws affecting all of us in the future.
