Re: “Jaws still has teeth

Hey AJ, thanks for reading! I agree wholeheartedly with what you said, though I would go even further and say Jaws is great *because* Spielberg couldn't get the shots he wanted. It forced him to improvise and be more creative than he would have been otherwise. (For examples: The yellow barrels were thought up on location as a way to work around not having a shark. Brilliant!)

And as far as Blu-rays go, Jaws is now the standard.

Re: “Jaws still has teeth

I really had to laugh about your quip concerning Jaws’ and “his own aquatic Golden Corral” because that’s a really good way of putting it. I was terrified of Jaws as a child and I didn’t think I ever wanted to see it again. Now that I’m older, I appreciate the movie and depth it had for the time period it was made in. Because of budget constraints many of the shots Spielberg wanted film didn’t happen, but I can honestly say that the movie is great the way it is. I don’t own a copy of Jaws but I’m planning on buying it soon. Until then, the plan was to rent it but that turned out to be incredibly hard. A Dish co-worker offered Blockbuster @ Home as a solution and to my surprise they had Jaws and its lesser known (and unworthy of the original) sequels. Jaws was in my mailbox this morning and I plan on spending my Sunday afternoon watching it and remembering how scary the movie once was.
