Great pics, Phil. From the soundboard? Really? Amazing!
Awesome Festival, Can't wait for round 2
yes, most likely. I talked to some people at the front of the line who said they got there at 7am. And I was thinking I was all hardcore getting there a couple hours early. heheh. They wrote numbers on peoples hands at first, but stopped after it got to 100. when I got there nothing seemed organized. It almost got ugly when they finally opened the doors and everyone started pushing through.
I heard there were people waiting as early as 6am at the GA gate - any truth to that?
that was a great show. I couldn't get over the hanging screen squares moving around and everything. Impressive. I read somewhere online that they used all recycled bottles for the big LED wall display behind them.
It's worth noting the mess that the Forum people made of the line for the floor GA outside. They clearly weren't prepared for that many people waiting, and some were more than a bit pissed.
Great Review L!
Great review! Just one thing: Meeting In The Aisle isn't a new song. It's off the Airbag EP. I don't believe they've played it live before though, except on Monday in Miami!
Thanks, correction noted!
It's "Street Spirit (Fade Out)".
Phenomenal show and the review is on the mark! Southside Johnny is an underrated showman, only by those who are not familiar with his music or live shows.
Dear Daryl, you are a moron who apparently didn't make it past the first line of this review. Everything its author wrote about the group and their performance is positive, and she's obviously a fan. Ashamed? Disrespectful? You're offended by the acronym of an expletive? You obviously have never read creative loafing before.
P.S. You're a moron.
RF, your review was very well written and does Celtic Woman justice. I've enjoyed your other pieces as well; keep up the great work!
I'm sorry you feel that way, Daryl. It was framed as a compliment and I think the article shows how much I respect them.
Really??? You start this article/review out with "WTF"????
Whats wrong with you!
You obviously don't know what or who these Woman represent!
This has got to be the most disrespectful thing I've seen in a long time!
You ought to be ashamed of yourself!
Disgusting!
I will love Mike Doughty forever for shushing those people. I kind of wish more artists would bother to do that.
what a great review for an amazing show! can't wait to see you guys again! <3
Always here to clarify! - Keith
I knew I'd get a response from you Keith! Thanks for clarifying, I guess I figured they'd play longer/later since it was a Saturday night bill ... I do really appreciate you bringing them to town, they really put out some high quality music and glad I got to see them this time around. Can't wait to see them again.
Great review, Leilani. Nice to see you at the show. Couple things I'd like to point out. No local/regional band should ever throw around the term "headlining". I've seen this used/abused for years by bands, etc and it does nothing but create egos/attitudes amongst a scene that should be equal/united. There are times when placement of the bands is strategic, if a band is the main draw on a bill it's common to put them last to keep people around, but even then, I would not use the word 'headline'. So, for instance King of Spain was NOT the headliner, he was just billed 3rd. Most importantly, Morningbell has never played last in Tampa at their own request. They prefer to play the shorter/middle slot, as a lot of times this is when the most walk-up traffic is in a bar/venue, regardless of billing. So, it was not a billing/promoter/venue issue. It was on the request of the band. Other than that, again, great review. Morningbell are a great and hopefully they'll be back sooner than a year.

Thanks for the kind words, Eric...glad you were there to catch our set! Our percussionist is Aaron Kant, whom we are lucky and pleased to have collaborating with us. It was an honor and thrill to open the show for the great Richard Thompson...a heartfelt thanks to all those in attendance who gave us such a kindly warm welcome! Cheers, Ed Woltil
Re: “Peelander-Z brings their weirdo comic-punk fun to Orpheum, Ybor City”
I was there.. Great Peelander Z review, but It seems that you completely missed the entire, "encore run through practice session" where Kimberly of One-Eyed Doll announced that they had "only two songs" left before the "mandatory encore.".. It's a fun skit that they do at their shows to teach the audience how to do an encore (which is really just the last song) and it went off really well that night with everyone, seemed to me that the whole audience got it and had a blast. Watch the band on youtube, and you'll see it's a regular game they play with the crowd at shows. You seem to be the only one who missed the memo. Maybe you were taking a smoke break, maybe you were drunk by that time. Maybe you shouldn't post a review about a set that you didn't pay attention to all the way through.
