Last week local foodies had a lot to celebrate: new eats at Hall on Franklin, more Kahwa coffee locations  and 25% off everything at Lucky’s Market as it prepares to shut down stores across Florida. Safety Harbor also welcomed a concept that serves only crepe offerings. We’ve even listed events to attend if you’re into good eats and brews for a cause.

OPENINGS

Dough Nation  Edible cookie dough spot Dough Nation moved to North Carrollwood after a two year stint in downtown Tampa.The new location, next to Noble Crust, brings an expanded menu comprised of more flavors of ice cream, cakes, and pies. Kaia Bowls Clearwater must really love its healthy, tropical-influenced bites, because Kaia Bowls has already opened a second location in Countryside. This new spot dishes all of the same Hawaiian-inspired acai, pitaya, bananaberry, raw coconut, spirulina, oatmeal,chia pudding and poke bowls as its first location, which opened in March 2019. 2539 Countryside Blvd., Clearwater. kaiabowls.com

La Dolce Vita Restaurant South Tampa welcomed its newest Italian eatery earlier this week when La Dolce Vita opened in the space formerly occupied by Le Boudoir restaurant. Its lunch menu includes light pasta dishes, pizza and pressed paninis while the dinner menu offers comforting pasta dishes like lasagna, lobster ravioli, penne pomodoro, carbonara and Bolognese. 3310 S. RyGuy’s Chicken and Waffles This Saturday, RyGuy's Chicken and Waffles is celebrating its new location inside James Joyce Irish Pub & Eatery. We're not quite sure how this new partnership will work out being that James Joyce is known for their wings and stacked food menu, but we have faith that when booze is involved, the more food options the better.1724 E. 8th Ave., Ybor City, FL. 813-247-1896

Floribbean The new Florida-Caribbean concept is officially slinging fusion bowls, tropical juices and craft brews in the former Urban Catering & Events space in St. Pete's Grand Central District.  Floribbean cuisine is a mix of Caribbean and Floridian cooking techniques with an emphasis on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. 2410 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. thefloribbean.com

Hiccups & Churroholic Hiccups & Churroholic is coming to Tampa and set to offer both over-the-top desserts and asian-fusion cuisine under one roof. Hiccups serves eclectic Asian-influenced dishes and a variety of specialty drinks, while Churroholic is a Spanish-inspired dessert line with a menu loaded with churros flavors, ice cream, milkshakes, specialty coffee drinks, milk teas, and fruit slushies. 13030 N. 3Bs Clearwater gets a new bar and grill in the coming weeks. The 3 Bs stand for bourbon, beers and burgers, as this new restaurant is set to deliver all of the American comfort classics, as well as a wide range of booze. German Knödle St. Pete’s German Knödle was the only local joint on Yelp’s America’s Top 100 Places to Eat in 2020 list. After less than a year of business, the concept boasts 5 out of 5 stars with 95 reviews, most of which gush over the friendliness of the owner and the excitement of their dishes ranging from the jagerschnitzel to the vegan curry "sausage" plates. Kahwa Soon enough we can expect four new coffee shops from the beloved Tampa Bay chain. Since founding the first location, in St. Petersburg in 2006, husband-and-wife duo Raphael and Sarah Perrier have been consistently growing their brand throughout Tampa Bay for the last 14 years. The couple shared that new coffee shops in St. Petersburg, Bradenton, Casey Key and Dunedin are in the works. The locations and opening date are TBD. kahwacoffee.com

Whiskey Joe’s The Manatee River area will be home to the newest location of tropical-themed casual restaurant. Set to open in March, expect the outdoor tiki bar to have all of the classic Whiskey Joe’s charm of fire pits, live entertainment, and bare feet. 5315 19th St. E., Ellenton. whiskeyjoestampa.com

CLOSINGS

Lucky’s Market Lucky's Market is closing 20 stores across the state of Florida, including one in the Tyrone Square Mall. The final day for the organic grocery store is February 12.
