Bob Mould — the guy you came to love by stealing your big brother's Sugar cassettes, then freaked when you found out he was in, like, a really famous band before that — will release his 11th solo album (and third in an incredible return to form that began with 2012's Silver Age) on March 25 via Merge Records. Titled Patch The Sky, this full-length follows critically acclaimed 2014 effort Beauty & Ruin.
First single "Voices in My Head" comes off as a bit more strummy and midtempo than some of the songs that have defined Mould's insanely well-received "comeback," but his knack for hooks, melody and compelling passion remain very much intact. It's a great tune, in fact, and bodes well for a hat trick of more-than-solid releases by the singer, songwriter and frontman, now 55.
