Though I’m not nearly old enough to have caught The Who in its heyday, the mega English rock band holds a special place in my heart. My earliest musical memories were of listening to The Who along with other Brit Invaders like the Stones and Beatles while on long car trips with my dad, and I always cranked up the volume when the first notes of “Who Are You?” started to play. As I got older, I discovered other Who gems like “Pinball Wizard” (courtesy of the video game Rock Band) and “Baba O’Reilly,” which made me love the band even more. In honor of its 50th anniversary, The Who is re-releasing the entirety of its catalog on vinyl and kicking off a special tour – heralded by vocalist Roger Daltrey as “the beginning of a long goodbye” – right here in Tampa. Guitarist and lyrical genius Pete Townshend has described the show as “hits, picks, mixes, and misses” – in sum, a combination of greatest hits paired with some deeper cuts from the vast Who catalog. This is sure to be a show for the ages, especially with vet rock songstress Joan Jett, so act fast on tickets or face getting a bloody nose (or paying out the nose). 7:30 p.m., Amalie Arena, Tampa, $36.25-$136.25.
