St. Pete drummer LeRoi DuVal (given name Lee Timothy Duval) died yesterday. He was found collapsed in the kitchen of the residence he shared with Charles Titone around 3 p.m. in the afternoon. According to the police report, DuVal had been drinking earlier in the day; no cause of death has yet been determined, though DuVal was purportedly the victim of recent violence — a few folks have referred to him being "jumped," though no more detailed information is currently available.

DuVal, aka "Woofie," was a tireless supporter of St. Pete's music and arts scenes, and is probably best known for his stint in anarchic post-punk duo Arcade Inferno. He worked at downtown St. Pete salon Star Booty, and could be counted on to show up and say something hilarious at any event worth attending. This writer remembers him as warm, talented, provocative and funny. He will be sorely missed, and our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
