Another Best of the Bay-winning band has done the area proud. St. Petersburg's own hard-hitting post-classical, post-metal double-drumming and shredding outfit set and setting — which put out an amazing album of expansive well-crafted instrumentals, Equanimity, last year — finally drew notice from one of the bigger heavy music labels: Prosthetic Records, current home to Skeletonwitch and Junius among many others. Official press announcement after jump.

Ambient post-metal instrumental quintet SET AND SETTING are pleased to announce that they have joined the Prosthetic Records roster. The group's as-yet-untitled sophomore album will be released this summer. More details will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Guitarist Shane Handal commented, "We're very excited to work with the great team at Prosthetic. Their confidence in us is inspiring and we are grateful to have this opportunity. We have always strived to grow and share our music as far as possible, and we feel that Prosthetic will help us continue this to a whole new level."

Hailing from St. Petersburg, Fla., SET AND SETTING was originally formed as a recording project in 2009 by Handal and has since continued to develop into its current line-up also featuring Ryan Fugate (guitars), Stephen Handal (drums, ambience), Mark Etherington (drums) and Nick Sibilia (bass).

The genre-defying quintet, lauded as 2013's "Best Bay Area Breakout Band" by Creative Loafing (Tampa), released their critically-acclaimed debut album "Equanimity" last year via Science of Silence Records. Praised as "a post-something cocktail of intoxicating musicality...instrumental in delivery but shifting in styles and dynamics throughout" (Echoes and Dust), the album can be streamed via Bandcamp HERE.

set and setting performs at Burgatory 2014 this Sat., May 24. More info about that fest here. The five-some is also due to play with Pelican, Phobia and others at the Southern Darkness Festival in Ybor City Sat., Aug. 23.
