Lousiana Rapper Lil' Boosie released from prison

What does the future hold for the underground legend after five years behind bars?

Louisiana street hero and underground rap legend Lil Boosie is free from prison after five years in the box. After a rapid rise to prominence in the mid-2000's, Boosie's upward momentum was abruptly, and kind of terrifying-ly, cut short after being charged with the murder of rival gang member Terry Boyd back in 2010.

This was just the start of Boosie's legal troubles. While awaiting trial, Boosie (aka Torrence Hatch) was charged with "conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal institution" after, apparently, trying to sling a litany of drugs including codeine, ectsacy and marijuana while in the pen. He was eventually sentenced to eight years in state prison. During the time, the murder charge was dropped as his still-rabid fanbase awaited his release.

The time came when Boosie was officially released on Wednesday night. Known for his pinched, nasally delivery and realer-than-real insight into grim street life, Boosie's grown into a folk hero of sorts with five albums under his belt since 2000; the latest being 2010's aptly-titled Incarcerated. No word yet on a future album, but his label, Atlantic, has scheduled a press conference for Monday, March 10 at 1 p.m., that will hopefully detail what's in store for Boosie's musical future.

Watch Lil Boosie make, like, 20 months worth of my rent rain on a sidewalk, then check out the video for "Top to the Bottom" below.
