Anamanaguchi.jpg
ADULT., The Way Things Fall (Ghostly)

American Fangs, American Fangs (In De Goot Recordings/Sony/RED)

Anamanaguchi, Endless Fantasy (dream.hax)
The self-styled hacker boyband (chiptune) producers make loud music with a retro (1985-era) NES game system and are currently raising funds to deliver a multi-media experience with the physical copy of the album. This is the official digital release date for all donors; read more about that here.

Bibio, Silver Wilkinson (Warp)

Big Eyes, Almost Famous (Grave Mistake Records)

The Blank Tapes, Vacation (Antenna Farm)

The Boxer Rebellion, Promises (Absentee Recordings)
London's indie rock quartet present an uplifting and cinematic follow-up to 2011's critically-acclaimed The Cold Still, their fourth overall. Video for new single "Diamonds" was shot by British directorial duo Justin and James Lockey (aka Hand.Held.Cine.Club), and finds lead singer Nathan Nicholson in a dead-end job and escaping via free-fall air fantasies. Apparently, the film team built an office space inside an empty building, worked with free-base skydivers in sub-zero temperatures and dove into ice cold waters to capture the footage. Watch after the jump, along with the rest of this week's new releases...

98 Degrees, 2.0 (Universal)

Austin Lounge Lizards, Home and Deranged (Blue Corn Music)

AM & Shawn Lee, La Musique Numérique (Park the Van)
The sophomore LP from the twosome is described as "a sun-filled, space-funk masterwork that blends early digital technology with decade-blurring songwriting, transporting listeners deeper into the sonic crates from which the music was born ... Taking fans in and out of faded memories of disco, funk, soul and reggae but never colonizing one style." Check out their spacey rendition of Joe Jackson's 1982 hit "Steppin' Out" off the album after the jump and check out the rest of this week's new releases ...

!!!, THR!!!ER (Warp)

Adventure, Weird Work (Carpark)

The Airborne Toxic Event, Such Hot Blood (Island)

Akron/Family, Sub Verses (Dead Oceans)
The experimental folk music outfit just keeps getting more out there with each album. Need to spin this a few more times, but as far as I can tell, Sub Verses continues in Akroon's 'WTF?' direction of screaming prog rock marked by drawn-out instrumentals, heady lyrics and tribal-flavored experimentalism along with the usual all-to-brief melodic interludes. Listen to the extended cut, "No-Room" after the jump along with the rest of this week's new releases...

The Appleseed Cast, Illumination Ritual (Graveface)

Brass Bed, The Secret Will Keep You (Crossbill Records/Off The Air Recordings)

Michael Bublé, To Be Loved (Warner Bros/Reprise)

Celestial Shore, 10x (Local Singles)
Brooklyn-based math rock/psych pop three-piece Celestial Shore present their full-length debut, mixed by Greg Saunier (Deerhoof), issued on Brad Oberhofer's newly-launched label, and featuring vocals by Lorely Rodriguez (Empress Of). First single "Valerie" finds pretty vocal melodies drifting over warped-watery, wobbling-lurchin instrumentals with spazzed-out time signatures and things-falling-apart breakdowns. Listen after the jump, and check out the rest of this week's new releases...

But first, today’s releases; stay tuned for details about noteworthy RSD releases at cltampa.com/music... Info and links for the ones you want to know about most below, plus some other ones you may not have heard of (but should know), with audio & video for your listening and viewing pleasure. artbrut.jpeg
Anika, Anika (Stones Throw)

Art Brut, Top of the Pops (The End Reords)
The quirky Berlin-based English/German indie rock band presents a double album compilation. (FYI, Art Brut has decided henceforth to classify itself as a 'classic rock band.') Here's how they describe it: "CD1 contains the best and most popular songs from our career in chronological order. So you can see clearly that we have followed the CLASSIC ROCK blueprint exactly - Album One, Excited; Album Two, Confused; Album Three, Angry; Album Four, Experimental. Plus, two brand new tracks. They’re about enjoying natural disasters and making pop music. Optimistic rebirth. This is textbook CLASSIC ROCK BAND stuff ... CD2 contains rare songs that Freddy Feedback rescued from our vaults including live songs, covers we finally got round to asking for permission to release, hard to acquire b-sides and unreleased demos from our recording sessions for ‘Its A Bit Complicated’ that took place with Pulp's Russel Senior (who is not mad, I promise)."

Born Ruffians, Birthmarks (Yep Roc)

Stephen Brodsky, Hit or Mystery (Little Black Cloud Records)

Carla_Bruni_Little_French_Songs.jpg
Carla Bruni, Little French Songs (Verve)

Charli XCX, True Romance (IAMSOUND)

Coma, In Technicolor (Kompakt)

Damon & Naomi, The Wondrous World of Damon & Naomi: Bootleg Edition (20/20/20)

Dead Can Dance, In Concert (PIAS Recordings)

Disappears, Kone EP (Kranky)

Steve Earle & The Dukes (& Duchesses), The Low Highway (New West)

Electric iLL, Twisted Light EP (Amore!Phonics)
The debut recording from Viva Voce's Kevin Robinson aka Kaylee Rob, with Ragen Fykes to create an 'Illumination of Electric'-themed music, which mixes hip-swinging electro funk and twangy rock n' roll with acid-sci fi electronics and vocals effected to robotic proportions, or rising in simple boy-girl harmony. Listen to "" below.

The-Flaming-Lips-The-Terror-608x608.jpg
Evenings, Yore (Friends of Friends)

Eyeconoclast, Drones of the Awakening (Prosthetic Records)

Farewell 2 Fear, New Blood (Silent Majority Group)

The Flaming Lips, The Terror (Warner Bros.)
Finally, a follow-up to Embryonic that doesn't call on a large cast of guests nor cover an album in its entirety. The psych-experimental behemoth's first album of new material since 2009 and their 13th overall was produced by long-time collaborator Dave Fridmann and is described as a "bleak, disturbing record" by frontman Wayne Coyne. It is. Not sure if I like it yet; the dreariness isn't too pleasant. Check out a medley for the album after the jump and judge for yourself... then see what else is out this week.

A 14-song compilation of one-on-one collaborations by the pop music legend who's celebrating his 55th year as a performer; the release coincides with the in-store drop date of Anka's long-awaited life story, MY WAY: An Autobiography, co-written with David Dalton. Broadheds, Broadheds (Dangerbird)

Clementine & The Galaxy, Clementine & The Galaxy EP (self-release)
There is something highly appealing about the space-pop mix of meaty beats, island-y guitars, girlish cooing vocals and video game sounds in "Robot"; video after the jump along with the rest of this week's new releases .

Bowie fans have been on a nonstop buzz ever since the iconic art rocker announced he'd be releasing an album of new material, finally, after 10 years with nothing new. (His last album was 2003's Reality... The actual release date was March 8, because he's motherfucking David Bowie and he can do what he wants.) This is his 24th studio album.
