That means you've only got a few more hours to place your bids on one-of-a-kind gifts that keep on giving, with proceeds from each winning bid supporting The Children's Home and its programs for abused and neglected children.
And you really can't miss with auction items like these:
• For craft beer lovers: One massive barrel-aged bottle of Cigar City brew, chosen by you
• For families: An amazing package from the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, including a chance to wade with the dolphins and get your photo taken with Winter of Dolphin Tale fame
• For everybody: The most hotly-contested prize of all: The cover of Creative Loafing.
We've saved some very, very big items for this week, including:
• A beer-lover's wildest dream from Cigar City Brewing (think one very large bottle)
• A fantastic package for fans of Winter the Dolphin
• The always-popular vinyl shopping spree with CL's music editor
• A private trolley tour of St. Pete's Warehouse Arts District (with a glass-blowing finale)
• An incredible array of great stuff swiped from our editors' desks;
And perhaps the most coveted of all…
• The cover of Creative Loafing
Check out our eBay page and start your bidding — you've only got till Thurs. Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. to score some amazing holiday gifts and help The Children's Home toward another successful year.
The first Monday after Thanksgiving, aka Cyber Monday, is traditionally the nation's biggest day for online shopping. The following day is Giving Tuesday, a newer phenomenon initiated last year by New York's 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation. So it's prime time to take advantage of the offers in Creative Loafing's fifth annual Holiday Auction. It's a convenient way to shop from your laptop, and, in keeping with the spirit of Giving Tuesday, the proceeds from every winning bid support The Children's Home.
The bidding on Week Three of the auction continues until Thurs., Dec. 5, at 5 p.m. Find all the details at cltampa.com/HolidayAuction2013.
Here's just some of the cool stuff in this week's list.
By 5 p.m. tomorrow, Thanksgiving Day, you could be feeling bloated and bored.
That's right. You've only got a little more than 24 hours to bid on the items in Week Two of the CL Auction, which closes at 5 p.m., Thurs., Nov. 28 (aka Thanksgiving Day).
Thank you! During the first week of the auction (Nov. 14-21), CL readers helped raise close to $8,000 for The Children's Home — and there are three more weeks to go. Looks like we may well hit $30,000 this year, which would bring the total CL has raised for TCH over five years to $100,000-plus.
So what's on tap for Week Two (Nov. 21-28)?
Here's just a few of the attractive deals at CL's eBay store:
Talk about a win-win, right?
If you've been watching closely, you know you've actually got a few more hours to bid on Week One's items than was originally publicized. The items in Week One will all be closing around 8:30 p.m. tonight, not 5 p.m. as previously announced. If you're a lurker, hoping to swoop in at the last minute and sweep up your favorites, you'll have to wait a little longer before you snag one of the big-ticket deals like the Don CeSar getaway or the CL ad campaign, or one of the less-bid-upon items like the Painting with a Twist/Taco Bus combo, the gift certificates to Tampa Bay History Center, Pizza Fusion and Old Tampa Book Company, or the Tampa Bay Rays tickets and Jose Lobaton-autographed flag.
Right away, we're seeing some hotly contested items. Top bid-getter as of this morning: The deluxe Loews Don CeSar/Maritana Grille package, with $305 in bids already in.
And just so you know: This offer is not just for one night, it's for two, and the treatment at Spa Oceana is a Table for Two Couples Massage. And that private chef's dinner for two prepared by Best of the Bay-winning Executive Chef Kenny Hunsberger at Maritana Grille? It includes wines, too.
No wonder this is valued at $1,895. And you've still got till Thurs. Nov. 21 at 5 p.m. to place your bid.
And here are a few items from the first week's offerings that haven't caught fire yet — meaning they are ripe for the bidding:
The Creative Loafing Holiday Auction for the benefit of The Children's Home is up and running, and every single item in the auction is deserving of its own individual Best of the Day status. But here are a few highlights of the first week, which is now live on eBay and concludes next Thursday, Nov. 21, at 5 p.m.
In the last four years, Creative Loafing has raised over $70,000 in our annual holiday auction for the benefit of The Children’s Home.
In the next four weeks, we hope to take that total much, much higher.
And this year we’ve made it even easier to bid on your favorite items: The auction's on eBay.
But please note: You’ll have to work fast.
