Cards Against Humanity as psychological profiling tool

By now, I’m sure most of you have played, or at least are aware of the game Cards Against Humanity: A Party Game for Horrible People. If not, all you need to know is that it’s a Q & A card game, and the writers of the game aim to make the cards as “despicable and awkward as you and your friends.”

I own this game and have played it several times over the last few years, and while it’s unlikely its creators set out for anyone to actually learn anything, Cards Against Humanity can teach us about not only about things we didn’t know were things, but also about our friends and ourselves.

  • These items were taken from the club sometime late Friday night on January 4.
The St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, home to the world's largest shuffleboard court, was robbed of several trophies, a vintage scoreboard, and several giant vintage postcards.

"We don't know exactly when but it was late Friday night," said club manager Christine Page on Wednesday afternoon. "I ran through the club early Saturday morning and noticed one of the large postcard prints was gone but it didn't occur to me that it was stolen."

But during the club's board meeting this week, it didn't take long to notice that the prints along with several vintage shuffleboard trophies and a scoreboard had gone missing.

The Force was with us at Star Wars Celebration VI

Posted By on Tue, Sep 11, 2012 at 12:29 PM

Before Tampa was invaded by the Imperial National Convention, Orlando, was taken over by Star Wars Celebration VI. The 7 million square-foot Orange County Convention Center was filled with shopping, trading, screenings, cosplayers, educational panels, laser tag, speed dating and Legos ... everything a fan could want, with the added bonus of lots of chicks in gold bikinis.

Attendees from all over the world were greeted by a looming AT-AT Walker and some of their favorite characters decked out in beads while R2D2 took a Myspace-style group shot.

Local St. Pete game developers hit on the (mono) cellular level

A local game developer is using Kickstarter to crowd-source their latest mobile game.

Making a video game isn't a simple task. Hell, even making a simple video game isn't a simple task. Plus, it's always been something that's happened in far-off magical places like Orlando or Raleigh. So, when I get a press release about a "local game" coming out, I'm interested.

Amoeba, produced by Solvent Studios is that game and it seems they've started a Kickstarter campaign to get the necessary funding.

SXSW - 3/18/12 - Day Ten

Goodbye, Austin. I’ve come to appreciate this strange relationship we have. We see each other once a year - the best and worst sides. No questions asked. And then we do it all over again. There’s a name for this. What is it?

I’ve shipped my souvenirs (and records) home, packed my suitcase full of crap from the conference and tradeshow. Thanks to Katie and Karl for letting me crash with them. Thanks to Chris for hanging out with me, even though I always have my own agenda and am checking my phone every other second. That’s what friends are for, I guess. Thanks to Kelley for taking some amazing photos (even some challenging group shots). Thanks to all the SXSW staff and the new friends I met this year, you’ll all be getting an e-mail from me soon.

I need antibiotics. I need a detox. I need to sleep for two days straight. There’s a name for this. What is it?

I’m saying goodbye now. Until next time.

Check out my coverage of days one through nine after the jump.
