Do This: Antique Alley's 3rd Thursday Holiday Marketplace and Inequality for All

Posted By on Thu, Dec 19, 2013 at 2:02 PM

This evening, from 6 to 8 p.m., you can knock out last-minute holiday shopping while enjoy tropical cocktails, checking out live tiki carving, scoring sales and browsing holiday decor at Antique Alley's 3rd Thursday Holiday Marketplace in Belleair Bluffs.

Stop in Roadside Attraction to take a tag from the "New Year, New Beginning" Giving Tree benefitting Shepherd's Village and make a single parent family's future a little brighter. Roadside Attraction, incidentally, won CL's Best Curiosity Shop and Gypsy Craft Lounge in the 2013 Best of the Bay issue.

Visit the Alley's other charming and unique boutiques while enjoying the sounds of local band The Last Ghost Dance too. Anique Alley is at 596 N. Indian Rocks Road, Belleair Bluffs.

In Tampa, it's the last night to see Robert Reich's chilling documentary Inequality for All, which reveals startling statistics about America's widening economic gap. (Cue fizzling party horn.) ... We admit this is not the most Christmas spirit-filled offering out there tonight, but it's never a good time for a wake up call, is it? And we could all use some perspective during this most spendy of seasons, right?

Reich, an economist, author, and educator who was U.S. Secretary of Labor under Bill Clinton, teaches a course on wealth and poverty at the University of California Berkeley. Since the mid-1980s, Reich has been outspoken on the issue of the growing divide between America’s haves and have-nots.

The film shows at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Tampa Theatre, 711 N. Franklin St., Tampa. $11.
