Cigar City Brewing and LOKO Cuisine's Eggs & Kegs (formerly Eggs n' Kegs) takes the time honored tradition of Sunday brunch to a whole new level. Bloody Mary's and Belgium waffles have had their day, time for beer and some innovative breakfast-creations.
On the third Sunday of every month, Cigar City's Spruce Street tasting room fills with beer/brunch-lovers, eager to get a hot plate of funky fresh cuisine and a pint or two. Did I mention that the dishes have some beer-inspired elements? This past weekend was November's "It's all gravy, baby" event, featuring a four-course feast with items like pumpkin pie french toast.
The next event is Sunday, December 15. Eggs & Kegs will feature a Winter Wit Wonderland complete with a Belgian White Ale and chili pepper-inspired feast. Tickets are available here or inside the Cigar City tasting room (cash only at CCB).
"It's all gravy, baby" was my first time at Eggs & Kegs. And despite being a sold-out standing room only crowd, the line for food moved quickly and the trays of magically refilled. Applewood smoked pork chops drizzled in Cigar City Cubano Espresso Red Ale red-eye brown gravy wafted through the room. Juicy citrus and rosemary-brined deep-fried turkey was served with Cigar City Cider pan gravy.
But wait, there's more.
Each ticket comes with a pint of choice, and what choices there are. Pick from the plethora of tasting-room only brews and perhaps find a growler fill to take home. My partner in crime, Mr. Doom and I chose to sample the Almond Biscotti brew and Winter Warmer ale. Both were festive and seasonally-appropriate beers with the holidays just around the corner.
For dessert, affogato, an Italian dessert made with espresso poured over ice cream or gelato. It's safe to say that "divine" isn't a stretch when it comes to this creamy confection of peppermint ice cream with locally-roasted Felicitous Coffee and Tea House espresso.
The next Eggs & Kegs is coming right up and you better get tickets soon before they sell out (trust me, they will sell out).
