Every weekend there's stand-up comedy happening across the Bay area, from theater shows featuring household names to comedy clubs offering nationally-touring headliners to the local bar or restaurant showcasing local talent. If you want to see comedians performing live, you have a lot of options.

Here are the biggest shows happening Oct. 10-13.

Anthony Jeselnik The former writer for Late Night With Jimmy Fallon first gained acclaim for his performances on Comedy Central roasts. His Jeselnik Offensive television program, on that same network, also completed its second season back in August. Jeselnik has a deadpan delivery and a professional look about him, but you know there's a sharp punchline in every joke and it's coming from a very dark and inappropriate place. Not for people who get offended easily; no crying at this show, please.
Showtime is Saturday at 8 p.m. at Straz Center's Ferguson Hall, 1010 N. MacInnes Place in Tampa. 813-229-7827, strazcenter.org.

Larry The Cable Guy You've heard (maybe a bit too much) his "GIT-R-DONE" catchphrase, but it's the slogan behind his million-selling DVDs, comedy specials, movies and even a commercial or ten. He was an integral part of the Blue Collar Comedy tour and was skewered by friends and attention-seekers on his own Comedy Central Roast. Through it all, his fans keep coming back for his southern-fried observations. Showtimes are Saturday at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Ruth Eckerd Hall is located at 1111 McMullen Booth Road in Clearwater. rutheckerdhall.com, 727-791-7400.

Arnez J Seen on BET's Comic View, Def Comedy Jam and his own Comedy Central special, Arnez J has an energetic and infectious stage presence that sometimes leaves his audience (and even the performer himself) out of breath. Showtimes are Friday at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.; Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m. at The Tampa Improv, 1600 E. Eighth Ave. in Ybor City. improvtampa.com, 813-864-4000.

Pete Lee A former semi-finalist for NBC's Last Comic Standing, Lee has also worked on the NFL Network and VH1's Best Week Ever. He looks a bit like that new intern at your office, except he's not afraid to get fired for his witty insults. Fortunately, most of Lee's criticism is directed at himself and his lack of a tough-guy gene. Showtimes are Thursday at 8:30 p.m., Friday at 8 and 10:15 p.m., Saturday at 8 and 10:15 p.m., and Sunday at 7 p.m. at Side Splitters, 12938 N. Dale Mabry in Tampa. sidesplitterscomedy.com, 813-960-1197.

Derek Richards. Richards has traveled the world to perform for troops overseas and is often heard on the XM Satellite Radio Network. Expect plenty of criticisms about Richards' friends and family that you might recognize from your own circle.
Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 7 and 9:30 p.m. Snappers is located at 36657 U.S. 19 N., Palm Harbor. snappersgrill.com, 727-938-2027.

Leslie Norris. A popular corporate speaker who runs her own talent shows, Norris is a rarity in comedy today: A clean comedian. You could go to a dozen comedy shows and not find one, but this weekend she'll be serving up comedy in St. Petersburg without the traditional side of cursing.
Showtimes are Thursday-Saturday at 9:30 p.m. at Coconuts Comedy Club, St. Pete Beach. coconutscomedyclubs.com, 727-360-5653.

One-nighters and Independent Shows:

Niagara Tap (free show) — Mike Rivera. Rivera was named "America's Funniest Teacher" by ABC's The View and was previously a regional winner in Showtimes's "Funniest Person in America" contest. He has a fast-paced set with an easygoing style that was honed over more than 25 years in the business.
Showtime is Friday at 7 p.m. Niagara Tap is located at 11950 Seminole Blvd. in Largo. theniagaratap.com, 727-581-5331.

Lonzalo's Pizzeria & Ristorante — Mike Rivera and J.B. Ball. This double-headliner show features Rivera (see above) and J.B. Ball, a local favorite who brings his comedy talents to stages throughout the southeast. Ball prefers to focus on his personal observations with a relaxed manner and likable stage presence.
Showtime is Saturday at 9 p.m. Lonzalo's is located at 3104 Town Ave. in Trinity. lonzalos.com, 727-494-7615.
