Tasha Reign embodies the iconic archetype of a porn star. Long, bleach blonde hair. A slender frame offset by titanic tits. She's an x-rated Malibu Barbie. A Southern California princess cloaked in fluffy pinks and glimmering rhinestones, who probably sweats glitter and tanning oil.

Reign is a feminazi's worst nightmare. Not only has she made a profession out of turning herself into a perfectly polished sex object, but as a women's studies major at UCLA, she is completely conscious of her actions. In this sense she defies the stereotype of a porn star and a feminist. She chooses to present a hyper-sexual image of herself for profit because it is in line with her vision of femininity.

A native of Orange County, Reign appeared as a minor character on the third season of MTV's Laguna Beach. After her mother bought her aerobic pole dancing lessons, Reign landed a gig dancing at Silver Reign, which was near her classes at UCLA. While on stage, Reign was discovered and asked to pose for Playboy's 2010 spread, "Girls of the Pac-10." The following year she was the centerfold in the April issue of Penthouse before being named the May 2011 Penthouse Pet. Reign went on to sign as an LA Direct model and started filming hardcore sex scenes. Currently, she is finishing her coursework while running her website, TashaReign.com and studio, Reign Productions.

You've said that after you finish your degree in women's studies, you may eventually attend graduate school. Would you ever considering teaching a college course about women in porn or human sexuality?

I just go to school because I personally enjoy learning. Right now I can't see myself doing that, but my mind changes all the time, so maybe in 10 years. Right now that does not sound like fun to me. I don't like to try to convince people of my way of thinking. In class it's annoying when people have such strong beliefs and opinions. I would rather just let them be.

After reading Ayn Rand's idealistic manifesto, The Fountain Head, did you feel more empowered to pursue your own self interests, particularly in your chosen profession?

I think every young person who reads that book feels that way. You read The Fountain Head and think, "Oh my God! Life is all about me." After reading that book I felt very entitled. Then I was like, "I don't want to be just selfish." It's always important to step back and reevaluate things.

I read somewhere that you hate watching amateur porn, and that when you do watch porn, you like to see big boobed blondes and hardcore gangbang scenes—

I really have to be more careful about what I say in interviews. I only like to watch blondes with big tits — this is true. And I only like to watch hardcore, crazy stuff. Not just gangbangs, though that's an example of the kind of hardcore scenes I like to watch. I don't do super crazy acts, so I think it is nice to watch those things. It is more of a fantasy to me. I think that is why most people watch porn. They don't do that stuff in their personal life so they like to see it in porn. I don't want to watch the same things I do in scenes: vanilla, boy-girl porn.

You recently started shooting anal sex scenes. Was that something you had always been interested in doing, or was it strictly a career move?

I always thought I would be naked in front of a camera, but I never knew I was going to do hardcore pornography. It wasn't like I walked into this business and was like, "I'm going to do anal one day." I enjoy anal sex in my personal life. I don't find anything weird about it at all. I think it is weird if you avoid that area. To be honest I waited two-and-a-half years, not because I was holding out or because I wanted to build up to anything. It was because I don't want to do anything on camera that I don't feel comfortable doing in my personal life. The porn penises are so much bigger than everybody else's. They're like the size of a small arm. It wouldn't make sense for me to be like, "Yep, I can do that," then not be able to put it in, or hurt myself. There are so many bad things that can happen if you are not mentally and physically prepared. I just wanted to make sure that I was ready. When I was, I was like, "Okay. Let's shoot this."

Why don't they ever hire performers with average dicks to film anal scenes, especially when it is the female's first time doing it on camera?

Well I chose the guy so I don't know who you're referring to when you say "they." First of all, nobody wants to see a little penis in porn. That's not the point. In my personal opinion, and I know there are many different desires and fantasies, but in general guys want to see big dicks and they want to see cum on the face. It's like male instincts. For me though, I actually enjoy a big dick. I wanted to make my scene special so I shot it for my company with Peter North. He is one of my favorite performers because he is a legend and because he is huge. I just like working with him. I took his creampie virginity in exchange for my anal virginity on camera. I think I didn't realize how big he was. I think I thought he was normal because I am so use to their size, but when it's in the butt, it is so different. Now I've gotten it down to a science. I've done like seven anal scenes and I am ready to go.

Reign Production scenes all seem to feature flawless blondes with fake tits fucking in luxurious settings. How would you describe the style of Reign Productions?

I want to take the stereotype of porn and increase it by 110 percent. I want to make it like in the 80s. Everyone is beautiful. The women have big boobs. I want all the videos to be extra girly, over the top, and almost ridiculous. I don't care for the trend in porn now. They are going for the natural, kind of mainstream vibe. They will have the girl-next-door having the kind of sex you would expect her to have. It's not that it's bad, it's just that I'm sick of it. I want it to be over the top. I want really sexy girls. I want it to be with the girls you would dream about having a crazy sexual adventure with. I want it to look super fun and girly. I want couples and women to feel comfortable watching it and think it is feminine and cute. I think it's different than the porn I usually shoot.

It sounds like you want to get away from the trend of gonzo and amateur porn and return to creating a fuzzy, fantasy world with porn.

Yeah. I wish there was a better word than girly. Just a very feminine feeling. I want guys to want to watch it because the girls are so girly and sweet.

Almost hyper-feminine.

Yeah. I just want it to be extra pink and extra bubbly and happy and cute. I like the girls to end with a really positive feeling. I don't want them to act like they were just destroyed or the victim in any way. I want the girl to leave with cum on her face and the attitude of, "Oh yeah. I rocked that scene and I was the star." I personally enjoy my job. I love porn so I like the girls I shoot to have that upbeat attitude.

So you don't like degradation porn. You like it when the female performers are in control in a scene?

Honestly I've never shot a scene where I felt any different than that. I just want my particular scenes to feel like that. I want people to watch it and think, "Oh yeah, she definitely enjoys her job. She loves being a slut and she loves having sex with guys."

You definitely love pink, girly stuff. Your wish list is full of pink accessories for your car and a lot of Hello Kitty gear.

My entire car is pink. I'm not kidding. The outside is white. The mirrors have Hello Kitty imprints on them and there are a few Hello Kitty rhinestone pieces on the outside. The inside is pure pink. It's Hello Kitty craziness.

Your favorite song is Spice Girls' "Wannabe." Your favorite movies are Clueless and Legally Blonde.

Someone told me I need to stop telling people that because it makes me sound like I'm twelve, but those really are my favorites.

What is it about Southern California women, that so many of them want to be girly-girl blondes, like big boobed versions of Paris Hilton?

I don't want to be a big-boobed version of Paris Hilton. I don't know where you pulled that from.

Like blonde sex bombshells.

I didn't know all Southern California girls were like that. This is all news to me ... When I was growing up, I always looked up to girls like that. I would love to know where that correlation is. I don't know. It's just like, you know, how when a band comes out when you are little and you like them.

Was there someone you idolized during that crucial stage of development?

The Spice Girls. They didn't have big boobs and blonde hair. Honestly, it's not big boobs and blonde hair. That's just the physical type of girl I like, and a girl doesn't need those features to be hot.

I have always been into being really out there with my clothes. I like dressing up and having fun and just being creative and in control. I don't think it is specific to California. I think it is just my personality. My little sister is totally the opposite of me. She is a banker so I don't think it has anything particular to do with my upbringing. I think it was just natural.

I saw the scene of you and Brooklyn Lee with Manuel Ferrara at the beginning of Digital Playground's Code of Honor. I know you and Brooklyn also took that photo with Bill Clinton that went viral—

She's my best friend. I love that girl.

Does it help having a best friend in the industry?

Brooklyn Lee retired like six months ago. She's still my best friend. I'm going to Vegas to visit her over July 4th. Actually Brooklyn and I had each other on our "No lists." We weren't going to work together. We only did that movie because it was a huge budget movie. We did it because we wanted to do the movie, not because we wanted to work with each other. We actually dreaded working with each other. I kind of wish we had been intoxicated, but we were completely sober.

So you guys don't hook-up off camera?

Hell no. We would never. We are literally like brother and sister. She's a brother. She is not feminine at all. She is crazy. She is so cool.

I think you just ruined every guys fantasy of you two.

Yeah, no. We would never. I can't believe we shot that scene. I was avoiding her the entire time. It was like, "Please no, don't make me lick that." She felt the same way. It was mutual. It was definitely not a one-sided feeling.

What has an agency like LA Direct done for you that you wouldn't have done if you did not have an agency behind you?

Some girls have had great experiences without an agency. A lot have had bad ones. For me, I would give LA Direct 90 percent of the credit for anything I do. They are the best. I can't think of what would have happened to me if I had not gone to them first. They built my entire career. They got me all the jobs that I've ever done and they pushed me so hard. When I tell them I want to do this type of work, or I want to work for this company, any desires that I have, they pursue them. I am just so grateful that I met them because it is really easy to just walk into porn with no idea where to go or what to do. There is no training guide. No one tells you what it is going to be like. They don't tell you how people will treat you or what your rates should be. Some girls are mean. They will give you false information. LA Direct, I think, is the best agency out there. I love them.

Does your mom ever regret buying you the aerobic pole dancing lessons after she saw it featured on Oprah?

No because my mom always knew. I was always so out there. In high school I would take off my clothes and run around and take photos in the mirror and tell my mother I was going to pose naked. None of this was a surprise, except for the porn part.

Porn is a whole different thing. I think she was more startled than frightened when she realized that it wasn't just me posing naked. When she heard about me doing girls, she was like, "That's weird but it’s not that big of a deal." Then I think she saw a picture of like, you know, a full blown penis, and she was like, "Oh my god!" She was probably disgusted. She wrote me some pretty fucked up emails. I knew she would get over it and she did.

Now she's supportive of me. She loves anything I do that is more mainstream, like the little OC Weekly articles. I think she feels validated in a way by my mainstream work, like my nude pictorials in which I'm not doing anything sexual. She can say, "Well, it's not just porn." She's cool. She's a mom. I can't really expect anything more. She is proud of me to an extent and she has become okay with the fact that I am a porn star.
