Summer has arrived in Florida and growing season is on its way out, once again. While some farmers markets are closing for the summer, others are staying open so you don't have to worry about missing out on the delights of fresh and local food during the stretch of hot months. Below is a list of markets that remain open for the season.

AZALEA COMMUNITY FRESH MARKET Saturdays: 9 a.m.-3 p.m., year round. Science Center of Pinellas, 7701 22nd Ave. N, St. Petersburg, 727-600-4223, azaleafreshmarket.com. This market offers food, arts, crafts and live music.

EDGE DISTRICT FARMERS MARKET Every third Wednesday of each month: 5 p.m.-8 p.m. for the summer. 937 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, 855-FOOD-ALL, facebook.com/EDGEDistrictFarmersMarket. This market takes place inside Everything Dolce's courtyard and prohibits any food or drink that has chemicals or isn't organic. Enjoy the selection of crafts and food without worrying about extreme heat.

FRESH MARKET AT WIREGRASS MALL First and third Saturdays: 10 a.m.-3 p.m., year round. 28211 Paseo Drive, Wesley Chapel, 813-994-2242, theshopsatwiregrass.com. Go to the mall, but shop at this market instead of the usual department stores. This market offers various handmade and organic items including plants and eco-friendly artwork.

GULFPORT TUESDAY FRESH MARKET Tuesdays: 9 a.m.-2 p.m., year round. Beach Boulevard before 29th Ave. S, 727-278-4285, gulfportma.com. More than 50 vendors gather each week to sell a range of goods including colorful foods, flowers, beauty products, and crafts. If you love the small-town style of Gulfport, swing by the other delightful shops and restaurants while you're in the area.

SAFETY HARBOR FARMERS MARKET Every third Saturday of the month: 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Starts June 22 and runs through September 21. 401 Main St., Safety Harbor, 727-461-7674, cityofsafetyharobor.com. This once-a-month market begins and ends an hour earlier to avoid the sweltering heat. Expect fresh food and flowers once you arrive at the gazebo at John Wilson Park, which is home to the market.

WILLIAMS PARK SUMMER MARKET Saturdays: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Summer market opens June 1 and runs through August. 330 2nd Ave. N, St. Petersburg, 727-455-4921, saturdaymorningmarket.com. St. Petersburg's Saturday Morning Market may be closed for the summer, but this market will take its place for the season. Enjoy shopping under the cool shade of the park's trees.

YBOR SATURDAY MARKET Saturdays: 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May-September. Eighth Avenue and 19th Street, Ybor City, ybormarket.com. Local business owners gather each week to sell food, teas, bath and beauty products, crafts, and other interesting goods. Greyhounds are even up for adoption every third Saturday of each month.
