There's a food revolution afoot in the Tampa Bay area, and the folks involved want to see the demise of processed preservatives, and the rise of locally grown produce and whole foods. Ybor City's Roosevelt 2.0 is one of the base camps for these pro-active people and next weekend they are hosting an event that gives you the chance to enjoy fresh, local and delicious produce (plus some wine, beer, music and other nifty things).
Beets n' Brews on Saturday, April 27, is a farm to fork evening from the certified organic Geraldson Community Farm. Geraldson is providing the produce for a vegetarian dinner prepared by chef Sherell White aka "The Healthy Chef."
Florida Beer Company will provide craft beers, Sereniteas — a local tea grower — will offer fresh tea selections and organic wines, Mountain Holler will dole out tasty live jams, and Tempus Projects and edible landscape artist Erica Klopf with provide visual art. Also, get a look at The Roosevelt's new "living wall."
Proceeds benefit community organizations and furthering outreach and operations. The Roosevelt 2.0, 1812 N. 15th St., Ybor City, 6:30-11 p.m., $40 in advance, $45 day of. Get tickets here.
