Bill Nelson comments on Boston manhunt

With more breaking news as the man-hunt for Dzhokar Tsarnaev continued, Nelson commented that the ethnicity of the suspect could lead investigators back to a terrorist organization.

“Al-Qaeda has been involved in Chenyan resistance so we should ask every question, and we’ll know pretty soon,” Nelson said.

Sen. Nelson also commented on the rejected gun background check bill.

“It’s a sad day when common sense does not prevail,” Nelson said. “90 percent of the American people think that it’s common sense to go out and check if somebody is a criminal or an insane person in the purchase of a gun.”

Nelson said he will continue fighting for five more votes to pass the bill.

“We’re not done and this is where we’re going to try, try again.”

Immediately following a memorial for the third anniversary of the BP oil spill, U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson stopped to make comments on the developing news regarding the Boston Marathon bombers.

“I want to know are affiliated with any international terrorist groups,” Nelson said. “I want to know what was their motivation, if they had co-conspirators, were they supplied with people and technology and know-how as they built those bombs. “

Nelson, who seemed passionate about the ongoing manhunt referred to the marathon as a “soft-target” and believes that suspects were sure to have an arsenal of weapons waiting to be used. He also said attempts similar to that of the Boston Marathon bombing happen on the daily basis.

“I want to assure you all that everyday there are people that are trying to hurt the American people and everyday they are finding plots. A lot of them you don’t know about,” Nelson said. “If this ties in to whether it is domestic or international, here is an example of where you can’t be 100 percent.”
