Gasparilla Music Festival was a feast for the ears, eyes and taste buds. Aside from nearly 20 different local food vendors (The Refinery, Independent Cafe, Ella's, Poor Porker), there were also great drink options like the George Dickel whiskey.
Readers may recall that several of the bartenders featured in our Drinking Issue used this whiskey in their specialty cocktails.
At the GMF, Tampa's BOTB bartender Danny Guess stirred up some trouble with his partner in crime: George Dickel whiskey. People remained in line all day and night hoping to get their hands on a cup of the cocktail. The relatively simple recipe of Dickel No. 8, fresh lemon juice (or lemonade), and green or black tea was refreshing and delicious.
Now that the cat is out of the bag, you can stir up this fine bevvie at home. Creative Loafing is proud to present Danny Guess's recipe for The Daily Dickel.
