On Friday, Metro Wellness & Community Center, 1315 E. 7th Ave., will show “Philadelphia” as part of its Fourth Friday Film series. The movie starts at 6 p.m.
Later Friday night, Georgie’s Alibi hosts its Slumber Party. Show up in your favorite PJs (remember, no nudity allowed) and get 2-for-1 drinks. Cash prizes will be awarded for the sexiest, funniest and most creative outfits.
On Saturday, Metro Wellness hosts 55+ Appreciation Day from 12 to 2 p.m. Enjoy a free lunch while celebrating LGBT history and learning more about what programs Metro has for LGBT seniors.
Country-tinged and openly lesbian songwriter Kristy Lee also performs on Saturday night at The Ritz in Ybor City. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased online or at the box office.
And who can forget about Gasparilla? The pirate-themed event takes over Ybor Saturday evening.
This week’s Tease Saturday event at Honey Pot is called “Panty Pirates.” Interscope/Epidemic pop recording artist K. Rose, from Miami, makes her Tampa debut, followed by a drag show and DJ Mike spinning tunes. No cover before 11 p.m.
G. Bar also hosts a Gasparilla after party, the “Pirate Invasion Party.” DJ Kidd Madonny will provide the music, and VJ Charles Machado takes over the video lounge.and $1 drinks are available from 10 to 11 p.m.
You can also head over to Liquid Tampa if you’re in need of a pirate fix. Birthday girl Avalon Infiniti hosts “The Pirate’s Sword Party” and Power Infiniti performs. Musical beats will be provided by DJ Greg Anderson.

For literary folks, head to the L Train bar in St. Pete tonight, Thursday, Jan. 24, for Wordier Than Thou’s storytelling and fiction open mic. Featured readers include Terri Richards, who released her first novel, Mission of Desire, through Bold Strokes Books, a specialty publisher of lesbian-themed fiction, last year. Doors open at 7 p.m. and anyone is welcome to sign up to read.
Sawmill, a gay and lesbian campground in Dade City, kicks off the season with its first “Bare As You Dare” weekend event Friday, Jan. 25 through Sunday, Jan. 27. Joey D will also be celebrating his retirement with Joey D’s Wildest Fantasy Ball. There will be a performance of Sawmill’s Diva Show, and $250 will be awarded for the best fantasy costume.
