Wine and Fitzgerald at the Oxford Exchange

Posted By on Wed, Jan 16, 2013 at 1:32 PM

Looking to make good on that resolution to read classic novels? The Oxford Exchange is hosting a book club complete with wine and a selection of delicious housemade hors d'oeuvres. The Beautiful and Damned by F. Scott Fitzgerald is the book club's first selection.

"It's not like an English class but more of a facilitated conversation centered around F. Scott Fitzgerald and the era he was writing in," said Oxford Exchange (and CL contributor) Casey Shuniak. "We don't want people to be intimidated, this isn't a lecture and all opinions are welcome."

Curator Allison Powell will facilitate the discussion alongside Donald Morrill — a professor in UT's creative writing MFA program — and Kathleen Ochshorn, a UT English professor.

"We are really hoping to become a focal point for the literary and art community of Tampa bay," Shuniak said. "We look forward to community development in that area."

Shuniak said the book club will be a bi-monthly event.

The Oxford Exchange Book Club is Tuesday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. The cost is $25 and includes wine and food. Call 813-253-0222 ex. 114 for reservations.
