Tampa Bay's Left Coast Bartenders' Guild (LCBG) will host its 3rd annual Repeal Day Party to celebrate the end of prohibition and benefit two charities.
The party of all parties that celebrates "our right to imbibe" takes place on Sunday, Dec. 2, from 8 p.m.-midnight at the Don Vicente Historic Inn in Ybor City (Dec. 5, 1933, marked the day that the 21st Amendment ended Prohibition). Tickets are $75 a piece and are available at http://repealdayparty.com/the-party/.
The LCBG Repeal Day Party website says:
This fundraising event will celebrate the repeal of prohibition with classic and modern drinks representing some of the greatest cocktail cities on the planet. Food to be provided by several of our member restaurants in collaboration with DVI. Entertainment will include burlesque performers, live music, and theatrically themed rooms throughout the Inn representing eras and noteworthy locations.
Proceeds from the event benefit the locally founded "Because of Erza," a charity that helps children who are diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and other solid-mass pediatric cancers. The charity seeks to fill some of the large gaps in pediatric cancer research funding, focusing on solid-mass cancers, with the goal of raising money to support relevant research and clinical trials with physicians and researchers who can help make positive differences. The event also benefits the Museum of the American Cocktail located in New Orleans, LA., which "seeks to advance the profession and increase consumer knowledge of mixology while stressing the importance of responsible drinking," and whose mission is to:
create a self-sustaining museum and tourist attraction that celebrates and preserves a rich aspect of American culture, while providing educational resources for professionals and the public in the fine art of crafting the cocktail through a series of mixology seminars conducted by the world's foremost authorities on cocktail history and American cocktails.
