ILovetheBurg.com reported Tuesday that an anonymous source confirmed that Whole Foods would be opening a store in St. Petersburg.

According to the St. Pete website:

Sources close to the deal have informed iLovetheBurg.com, on the condition of anonymity, that Whole Foods has arranged to acquire the block between 3rd and 4th Avenues North, currently occupied by Synovus Bank (333 3rd Ave. N.)

But Maria Gumina, marketing manager at Whole Foods in Tampa, said the story is false.

"I am not aware of any plans at this moment," said Gumina on Tuesday afternoon. "We have a store in Carrollwood opening this fall. There are no other plans for stores in this area right now."
