Sporting a snazzy updated retro look — think Arnold's from Happy Days on Mars — PDQ brings its vaulted ceiling, uber-friendly servers and made-fresh-daily fare to the strip-mall strip of North Dale Mabry. The third location in the Bay area, with others in Wesley Chapel and South Tampa, PDQ can be found near the Barnes & Noble on the corner of Stall, south of Fletcher Avenue.

The "fast casual" chain is renowned for its chicken tenders, and they seem to be a hit in the ol' Carroll-hood. Diner feedback was positive at a recent training just before the restaurant's grand opening on Aug. 12. The company's founders include Outback Steakhouse co-founder Bob Basham.

The menu isn't terribly elaborate; not as much variety as, say, Evos, but it does offer some staples with a healthy bent; items that aren't processed, fried in lard, frozen or packed with MSG.

Whole wheat buns, hand-cut fries and low-cal options help make a visit to the speedy, spacious eatery one that wouldn't get a disapproving look from your doctor.

PDQ opened its first eatery in 2009 as Tenders. Its approach to quality, friendly service and cleanliness ensured popularity pretty dern quick.
