Cajun Cafe on the Bayou does Lambics up right

I have to say that Paul Unwin and his crew at Cajun Cafe (along with the many brewery reps) made sure that every attendee had a great experience. Lines were short, brews were flowing, and the band played on.

Sours, lambics and a wide variety of Berliner Wiesses were on hand from Tampa Bay (Cigar City Brewing, St. Somewhere, Barley Mow, Rapp Brewing, Dunedin Brewery and 7th Sun brought their specialty brews, as did the Pinellas Urban Guild, Dunedin Brewers Guild, and Special Hoperations homebrew clubs); Florida craft breweries (from as far away as Miami); as well as U.S. and Belgium imports.

Dunedin Doggie Rescue was on hand as the benefit charity and provided raffle prizes including rare bottles of specialty beers and other prizes.
Taste sensations including grapefruit, cucumber, rhubarb, passionfruit, raspberry, and other fruit and organic ingredients presented a smorgasbord of flavors which attendees readily mixed to create favorites. Belgian farmhouse ales will never be the same.I will definitely add future Cajun Cafe beer events to my calendar and attend with the confidence that a great beer related experience will definitely ensue.

Specialty craft beer events are something that Cajun Cafe on the Bayou and owner Paul Unwin are becoming known for in the Tampa Bay area. I attended my first Cajun Cafe beer event, the first annual Sour, Lambic and Berliner Wiesse festival on June 16, 2012. I happily discovered it was a well run and attendance-capped event. Beer flowed seemingly seamlessly, with ample samplings of innovative brew styles and flavors from near and far.

When I first read about the festival and considered the $40-something price tag, I wondered if it would be worth the price of admission (having endured long lines at tasting events run by community and other restauranteurs throughout the area.)
