Donald Trump says GOP wants to invite him to Tampa for convention speech

Posted by on Mon, Aug 6, 2012 at 8:36 AM

Just a short time after learning the first announced speakers at the RNC in Tampa later this month comes.... Donald Trump.

The one-time 2012 GOP presidential candidate has not been named as the first group of speakers in Tampa, but he told Fox & Friends this morning that he knows the Republicans "want" to invite him. Huh?

As he mentions in the clip, Trump will be honored by the Sarasota County Republican Executive Commitee on Sunday, August 26, with its "Statesman of the Year" award.

Whether he will actually appear in Tampa on stage at the Times Forum during the convention is totally speculative at this moment, though one might question what he's ever done to earn it (other than question President Obama's birth certificate).
