I feel like the dream I had last night could represent something very important. I need your help. In the dream, my family (members I specifically remember were my uncle from my mom's side and my dad) and I went on a rusty cruise ship. I mean rusty like, everything looked like it was covered in rust. Each time we went on the cruise ship, around the same location in the water, we would sink. Each time, I would swim my way back to my dad's dock right outside his house. (The sinking location and my dad's dock were always within sight of each other) And each time I made it to the dock, my family would nudge me to get back on a cruise ship again, same one covered in rust. At one point in my dreams, after the second or third sinking, I had made it to the dock, and the dock started to fall apart. Wood piece, by wood piece, my dad's dock would derail and swing away. There were some random things in there too, like me being in my dad's house at one point and my old neighbors I used to babysit approached me to watch their kids again, but I figured that had no influence on the true meaning of this dream.
Please, please, please reply. I trust my subconscious, so I really need to know what this dream means. Please give me a sign. Or a meaning. Or explain this for me. I will be forever in your debt.
Fascinating. In a dream such as yours there is a life story underneath the symbolism. I will speak in general terms to you about what that may mean.
In this dream there is a dream, and the dream within the dream, a repetition compulsion. That means doing something over and over again and expecting different results.
A family cruise is considered a “dream” vacation but in this case the ship is rusty (old). That means the dream within the dream (happy family enjoying themselves) is old too. Now Dad is there is the form of a dock (safety) but that too changes and the dream feels even more unforgiving.
Now here's where you will be challenged. Your work is to look at how you fantasize about how you wish things were rather than what is really going on. The dream is telling you that this thought process of repetition compulsion is old and rusty too. Time to abandon ship! (In other words, change your way of thinking or grow up).
Now we all know dreams die-hard. It can be years and years before we let go of a dream, a wish that something is different than it is. The good news is you are lucky to have a dream telling so clearly that your old thinking is going to sink your life ship eventually. That means if you don't get a clue and act on what your deeper Self is telling you, you will face a dreary life of repetitive mistakes through wishful thinking; i.e. thinking that guarantees you depressive episodes and misery. Not good.
I care. Let me know when you turn things around.
