What would it take to voluntarily consume as many hot dogs as possible in a matter of seven minutes?
A year's worth of free shows at the Crowbar and a $50 bar tab apparently.
That's what drove Tampa resident Keegan Maloney to join Crowbar's sixth annual hot dog eating contest only minutes before the competition began.

"It was a last minute decision when I heard what the prize was" Maloney said. ""Free shows for a year at Crowbar was definitely worth the indigestion."
He prepped ahead of time, unknowingly.
"I hadn't eaten anything since lunchtime and it was about 10 or 11 p.m. so I had some rumbly in my tummy," Maloney said. "Plus, I had some liquid courage."
Maloney scarfed down nine hot dogs, with buns, in seven minutes. According to Maloney, the buns were the worst part.
"I decided to use the Kobayashi method and dunk the buns in water," Maloney said. "It was the most disgusting thing I've ever put in my mouth but it helped me win the competition."
Indeed, Maloney consumed at least seven soggy hot dog buns in order to claim his prize.
"It was horrible and the thought of a hot dog makes me nauseous," Maloney said.
Crowbar's annual Independence day hot dog eating contest was Maloney's first competitive eating event.
"My first and possibly only," Maloney said. "I guess I'll have to defend my title but we will wait to see what next year's prize is."
