Something to read while we countdown to SCOTUS's final decisions of the 2011-12 year....
CL hung out yesterday over at the County Center downtown, where there was some intriguing discussions at the Hillsborough Board of County Commission's meeting.
As the authors of the plan to save the Friendship Trail Bridge paced anxiously at the back of the commission's chambers (Ken Cowart, Kevin Thurman, Julia Gorzka Freeman and Alan Snel), the board debated a variety of options, including what would be tantamount to the death penalty, perhaps - outright demolition. Also at the board's meeting, a representative from the controversial Brandon community center The Regent got caught in a buzzsaw of negativity, as various commissioners blasted the notion that it would take the facility's representatives seven years to pay off a $35,000 debt.
The Natural Resources Defense Council released their annual report on the state of the nation's beaches, and what do you know? Tampa's Ben T. Davis Beach made the cut as the dirtiest in the region.
And Gay Pride month is observed in a most unlikely place - the U.S. military.
