The Voice semi-finals brought out some crazy good performances from the remaining eight contestants.

But it was Clearwater homegirl Juliet Simms who seemed to belt out the best.

She chose a James Brown tune, and unlike the other contestants she matched operatic power with raw bluesy grit.

Simms sang Brown’s “It's a Man's, Man's, Man's World,” an indelible rendition in what we've come to recognize as Simms’ signature style: sultry, strong, raw and uninhibited — pure rock 'n' roll.

Adam Levine said she was the one to beat last night.

Cee Lo exclaimed, “You killed it! You murdered it!”

But Simms’ Team Cee Lo competition Jamar Rogers’ emotional performance of Simply Red’s “If You Don’t Know Me By Now” had Cee Lo (and me) in tears.

The judges' scores (which were not released last night) combined with America’s votes will determine who makes it into the finals.

I have a feeling the coaches’ scores will favor Simms, but Rogers still has that back story and charm that might get America’s vote. Whoever gets Team Cee Lo will win the whole shebang, most likely.

Tonight we’ll find out who that is.
