At Tempus for Spring, this Sat., April 28, at the CL Space, you can get an eyeful of vanguard and aesthetically exciting art, make a purchase and help an organization that helps people make a new start .

The reception with art, DJ, food and beverage for the public is 7-10 p.m

The exhibition showcases some of the Tampa Bay area’s most imaginative and reputed artists, gathered at the CL Space to benefit The Spring of Tampa Bay, Hillsborough County's certified domestic violence emergency shelter and outreach service provider; an organization that goes above and beyond in its mission to help individuals who've endured some heart-wrenching challenges.

The event comes to us under the direction of Tracy Midulla Reller, Tempus Projects' intrepid leader, curator and all around poo-bah.

On display will be works by George Anderton, Neil Bender, Roger Chamieh, Suzanne Camp Crosby, Mitzi Gordon, Justin Myers, Justin Nelson, Kurt Piazza, Ryann Slauson and pieces by some other impressive artists.

"The silent auction features an incredibly cool mix of artists, some really established, some emerging, who all make art that is smart, smart, smart and deliciously well-made — the kind of stuff that always shows up in Tempus shows," CL art critic Megan Voeller says.

Adds Voeller: "At one end of the spectrum, you've got Theo Wujcik, an Ybor legend whose paintings command prices in the tens of thousands of dollars. At the other end, artworks by a flock of young talents destined for great things, including Ryann Slauson and Justin Nelson. And in between, some of Tampa Bay's most interesting art-makers and friends of Tempus. My inner collector will be going ape-shit at this event."

Obligatory shout out to presenters Tempus Projects in partnership with The Gobioff Foundation. "This event truly inspires us by supporting two branches of the Gobioff Foundation mission; empowering the local arts community and human rights organizations, said Gianna Rendina-Gobioff, the foundation's VP. "The sophisticated artist eye of Tempus Projects [gives us a glimpse] of an amazing gallery of art for the auction. The proceeds will facilitate the creation of an art therapy program to benefit survivors of domestic violence. The Gobioff Foundation appreciates that the creation of the art therapy program will contribute to the emotional welfare of The Spring clients, an important and long lasting impact for these families."

VIP admission is 6-7 p.m. A silent auction preview features complimentary cocktails and hors d’oeuvres; $30 in advance online or $35 at the door. General admission is $10 ($3 for cocktails); students pay $5 (must present valid ID). The CL Space is above Spaghetti Warehouse, 13th Street and Ninth Avenue, Ybor City.
