Generation sext: 1 in 10 have sexted the wrong person

A survey of 2,000 adults in the UK by Recombu.com revealed that around 48% of women and 45% of men have sent a sext message. Of these sexters, about 11% have sent risque images or messages to the wrong person. Below are some of the survey's other key findings on the behavioral patterns and protocol of sexting.

-16% of men and 8% of women have accidentally sexted a family member.

-5% of women and 10% of men have accidentally sent a sext to their partner that was meant for someone else.

-Only 18% of men and 12% of women have deleted sexts from their phone to keep others from discovering these messages.

-Only 1 in 10 people have given their number to a person they are flirting with when they are already in a relationship.

-Twice as many men as women are caught sexting a third party by their partner.

-12% said it is easier to send sexts than to talk dirty in person.

-25% of men and 16% of women have sexted a person who wasn't their partner.

-Both men and women said they will typically wait an hour to respond to a text from a potential date or new partner.

-About 20% of women will wait for the man to text first, while 10% of men will wait for the woman to text first.
