The 2012 Chalk Walk Arts Festival is happening this weekend in Hyde Park Village. Thirty-three chalk and "plein air" artists are scheduled to create original works of art along Dakota and Snow avenues as well as some of the walkways in the village. They are competing for $3,000 in prizes.
The event is being sponsored by Tampa Bay Businesses For Culture And The Arts, a nonprofit organization meant to strengthen arts and culture in the Tampa Bay area.

The festival includes plenty of events for kids, including chalk drawing, crafts, a bounce house, and face painting. A special Chalk Walk Artists Gallery has also been set up in the village.
There will be live music on Friday and Saturday nights, beer and wine available each day, and performances from Busch Gardens, including stilt walkers and animal ambassadors.
The 2012 Chalk Walk Art Festival is free (so's the parking) and runs from March 16 - 18, 2012.
