The Tarpon Springs Greek Orthodox Church celebrated the Epiphany with the annual blessing of the local waters and boats concluding with the throwing of a wooden cross into the city's Spring Bayou.

Boys ages 16-18 plunged into the bayou to retrieve it. This year a second cross had to be thrown when the first could not be quickly recovered. Whoever recovers the cross is said to be blessed for a full year. A number of boys continued to dive for the first cross which was eventually found. Two blessings for the price of one!
