Or maybe this isn't surprising. The threat to sue is just part of the sex-tape-charade. Every female celebrity caught in a sex tape scandal must threaten to sue the video's producer. Then the tape is released anyhow, the celebrity gets a huge portion of the profits, and the star receives a boost in her celebrity status. Considering the source of McGee's fame, it would be difficult to argue that a sex tape would constitute a defamation of character (there are picture of her online dressed like a half-naked Nazi). But perhaps the illusion, however transparent, that these are McGee's private videos will make her fans feel like they are seeing something intimate. So, in a sense, perhaps the threat to sue is really more for the fans than an attempt to appear respectable (in this case respectable is defined as not openly wanting to profit off of a sex tape as opposed to not shooting a sex tape in the first place).
Red Light District (RLD) plans to release the tape as a two-disc set early in 2012, possibly in time for Mistress Day on February 13. RLD released the first image from the tape to TMZ. It shows McGee in a bathtub with a woman licking McGee's foot. The tape allegedly has two sex sessions: one with a tattooed man and the other with a tattooed woman.
Both of these scenes were allegedly shot within the last year, which adds even more suspicion to their authenticity as private tapes intended for personal use. It's not as though these were filmed before McGee was famous. They were shot after McGee's fame was fading and while a rash of minor female celebrities were receiving renewed attention for their sex tapes.
McGee may not be the only one appearing to distort the truth to help hype the sex tape. A rumor has been circulating that RLD has more footage of McGee, but it is allegedly so extreme that RLD can't release it.
TMZ also acquired the letter sent by McGee's "talent" agent, Gina Rodriguez, to RLD. Rodriguez threatens to sue if the "stolen" videos are not returned along with a list of everyone who viewed them. RLD refused to comment to TMZ about a possible deal with McGee, or a third party, and McGee could not be reached for comment.
