Happy Pride-to-be! This year is going to be bigger than ever. We checked in with Chris Rudisill, executive director of St Pete Pride (and one of the nicest guys we know), and he told us, “We're expecting record-breaking crowds the day of the festival and we have events for everyone going on all week long.” And he isn't kidding.
In addition to “official” St Pete Pride Events, most of the gay bars, clubs and resorts will be in full swing with activities from movies to contests to dances and fashion shows. If you can’t find something gay to do, you aren’t looking! Here are a few of the highlights.
On Wednesday night you can bid on two very exciting trips to benefit The Tampa International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival just before their screening of Spork (pictured above), a coming-of-age drama channeling the likes of Pink Flamingos and Napoleon Dynamite. Bid on an American Idol/Cirque du Soleil VIP weekend in Orlando (including backstage passes to the American Idol tour) or a two-week cruise for two from Mallorca, Spain to the Caribbean. The auction starts at 7 p.m. at Muvico Baywalk, the movie following.
