The Gaily News: Bachmann, Pawlenty get glittered, Google celebrates Pride month

Posted by on Mon, Jun 20, 2011 at 9:10 AM

Republican presidential hopeful Michelle Bachmann is the latest conservative to get "glittered" by gay rights activists. At a conservative conference in Minneapolis over the weekend, an activist threw glitter at the anti-gay senator as she walked off stage, though unfortunately none of it ever actually hit her.

This happened days after fellow presidential hopeful and former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty had pink glitter dumped on him by gay rights and women's rights activists at a San Francisco signing of his memoir.

And last month, former House speaker Newt Gingrich and his wife had glitter dumped on them at a Minnesota book signing.

To celebrate gay Pride month, Google has added a U-shaped rainbow at the end of its search bar. The rainbow symbol appears whenever someone searches for certain LGBT-related terms.

Fran Drescher debuted her new series, "Happily Divorced," about a woman who continues to live with her ex-husband after they divorce because he's gay. The series is based on her real life marriage of 20 years, which ended for the same reason.
