Green Community Calendar weekend events: Tampa Bay Living Green Expo, Learning Gate EcoFest, Hyde Park Fresh Market and more

Dunedin Green Market- Fridays: 8 am-1 pm, Saturdays: 9 am-2 pm (through April). Featuring fresh, local produced goods such as baked good, ready-to-eat-foods, organic plants and herbs, coffee, honey, seafood, clothing, and so much more. The Dunedin Green Market is located in Pioneer Park at the cross streets of Douglas Avenue and Main Street in Downtown Dunedin.

Tampa Downtown Market- Fridays (through May); 10 am-2 pm. The vision of the Tampa Downtown Market is to provide local residents and businesses of the community with the freshest, highest quality, most nutritious, and most reasonably priced food and gourmet products. With a strong focus on sustainability, the Tampa Downtown Market intends to provide a vehicle to educate the community on the importance of good health as we create more business opportunities and residential benefits. The Market is located on the 200 block of Madison St. and 400 & 500 block of Franklin St. bordered by Lykes Gaslight Square Park.

Tampa Bay Living Green Expo- Saturday and Sunday, April 2-3; 9 a.m. The Tampa Bay Living Green Expo is a free, fun-filled educational family event helping Tampa Bay residents make informed decisions and take action to lead more healthy and sustainable lives with less impact on the environment. Join us at the Coliseum in downtown St. Petersburg. Learning Gate Community School's 2nd Annual EcoFest- Saturday, April 2; 9 am-3 pm. This is a community event celebrating the many businesses, organizations, and individuals in the Tampa Bay area dedicated to the principles of sustainability- Ecology, Equity and Economy. EcoFest activities include live music, workshops, demonstrations, informational booths, green living

Urban Permaculture Design Course Weekend Five: Culture and education, finance and economics as people care- Saturday-Sunday, April 2-3; 9 am-12 pm. Economies should serve people, not the other way around. We will share specific successful actions that can be replicated in our community. Create right livelihood using the laws of nature. Ybor Saturday Market- Every Saturday; 9 am-3 pm (year-round). You'll be sure to find great produce at great prices, gourmet foods and sauces, fresh baked breads, fresh eggs, prepared foods, orchids, herbs and plants, pet treats, honey, unique gifts, photography, artwork, jewelry, woodworking, bath and body products, candles, and so much more. Land O Lakes Saturday Market- Every Saturday; 9 am-2 pm (through May). The Land O Lakes Saturday Market is a weekly community event with live music. Land O Lakes Saturday Market donates profits to the Heritage Park Foundation and the Suncoast Harvest Food Bank. We are located at the Land O Lakes Community Center, on the west side of US 41 – Land O Lakes Blvd., three miles north of SR 54 (across from the Land O Lakes Post Office).

Guided Hike at Weedon Island Preserve- Every Saturday; 9-11 am. Guided hikes through coastal mangrove and upland ecosystems of the Preserve are held on most Saturdays of the month. Join us to learn about the coastal environment and the early residents of Weedon Island Preserve. Be sure to bring water and a snack for this 2-hour hike. A hat and closed-toe shoes are also recommended. Reserve your space by 2 pm on the Friday prior to the tour of choice. This event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required. Guided Hike at Brooker Creek Preserve- Every Saturday; 9-11 am. Take a walk through time each Saturday morning on a guided hike along the Education Center Trail. Join us for this 0.75 mile walk as we look at how the land has changed over time and discuss the ecological footprints left by those changes. Sturdy closed-toe shoes are a must, and water and a hat are recommended. Pre-registration is required by 12:00 noon on the Friday before the hike. Admission: Free. Fresh Market at Wiregrass Mall- every first Saturday (year-round); 10 am-3 pm. A short distance from the cities hub, The Shops at Wiregrass, a main-street style, pedestrian-friendly, outdoor lifestyle village hosts an open-air Fresh Market located on Paseo Drive and features 50+ Vendors selling only fresh, local, homemade, handcrafted and eco-friendly products. 28211 Paseo Drive, Wesley Chapel. Beekeeping Workshop- Saturday, April 2; 10 am. Learn how to keep bees in your yard, how to attract them to your flowers, and what about local, natural honey? Sliding scale donation suggested. Directions: Pull into the Max and Sam's restaurant parking lot at 1700 Park. Drive past the restaurant until you see a large parking lot on your left. Hyde Park Village Fresh Market- Sunday, April 3; 11 am-3 pm. This is a monthly event giving the people of Tampa Bay yet another opportunity to buy a variety of locally-produced products. Modeled after the Tampa Downtown Market and the Seminole Heights Sunday Morning Market, this market will feature over 70 vendors offering fresh produce, handmade arts and crafts, delicious food, live music, cooking demonstrations and a local massage therapist. Admission and parking are free to the public and friendly dogs on leashes are always welcome at the Fresh Market and in Hyde Park Village. Future Hyde Park Village Fresh Market dates: May 1, June 5, July 3 (subject to change due to holiday weekend), August 7, September 4 (subject to change due to holiday weekend), October 2, November 6 and December 4, 2011. Corey Avenue Sunday Market- Every Sunday, 10 am-2 pm. The Corey Sunday Market will boast 2 produce vendors, local arts and crafts, live music, foods and fun!  Located between Blind Pass Rd and Boca Ciega Drive, Corey Ave will be blocked off for a safe shopping day at the market. Corey merchants and restaurants will be open for business as well, lending a fabulous addition to your normal market venues. From antiques to boutiques, dog stores and more, the Corey Sunday Market is the one to visit every Sunday during the fall and winter seasons. Sweetwater Organic Community Farm's Sunday Market- Every Sunday (through May); 12-4 pm. On-site market features organic produce harvested fresh from our own farm, as well as organic fruits and veggies from other farms. Every week you can enjoy native plants, organic vegetable transplants, and unique products from green vendors and artisans including; fresh baked goods, local honey, homemade soaps, handmade jewelry, organic coffees, veggie burgers and fruit smoothies. You can also enjoy our wonderful 'Sweetwater Sunday Music Series' featuring some of the best local musicians and our popular open mic. Bring your friends, family, and leashed dogs.
