Alfie: The only thing I know about your hometown of Missoula, Montana is that it was the setting of the memoir and film, A River Runs Through It. Was that an accurate depiction of Missoula?

Skylar Price: It's very accurate. I never did any fly fishing but when I was younger my parents had a boat so we would go out and do regular fishing. That’s one of the things I don’t think I took advantage of living there. I did more skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking and things like that.

A: In college you were a Communications major. Where I went to school all the sorority girls were in Communications. What is it about that degree that attracts hot women? Does it appeal to their need to chat and gossip?

SP: Yeah, that and I think the classes are—-I’m not going to say they aren’t hard, but they involve a lot of group work.

A: Did you make any poster boards with glitter on them?

SP: Totally, though in high school there was a little more glitter on my posters.

A: Before doing porn did you work in a field that utilized your degree?

SP: When I was in college I worked as a property manager for some high-end apartment complexes. Then I moved on to pharmaceutical sales. I worked for three of the biggest pharmaceutical companies for about five years.

A: It seems like most pharmaceutical sales people are attractive. How much of being a good drug rep involves being sociable and seductive?

A: Did you ever hook up with a doctor?

SP: Everybody asks me that. You know what, if I did, I probably wouldn’t have gotten laid off and started doing porn.

A: So you got into porn because you were laid off from a drug company?

SP: Well, I tried to get a new job in pharmaceuticals, but that was three years ago when the economy was worse than it is now. I wasn’t able to find a job that paid me as much as I was used to. I had been doing it for so long that I was on a really high pay scale. So I started working as a bartender and dancing because I had so many bills… Well one day these guys came into my bar and left these flyers for the Playboy reality show, Foursome. They were doing a casting for San Francisco. I thought it might be fun to tryout. I don’t know why. I had never done anything like that before. The whole time I was like, "What am I doing?" But I tried out and made it, and the rest is history.

A: I tried out for a reality show in a nudist resort and one of the judges repeatedly asked about my willingness to have sex on camera. Were the producers upfront about wanting you to have sex with your cast mates?

SP: They wanted everybody to be single because they wanted everyone to hook up: the girls to do stuff with each other and the guys to do stuff with the girls. Of course you could lie... When we got on set they had all these dildos lying around, and sex toys, and whips, and they set up all these scenarios like body painting. It was kind of awkward. You feel the pressure. You’re like, “Okay well, I do have to hook up with this person, I think.” But the two guys they picked were just douche bags. I couldn’t deal with it. And the girl really wasn’t bi so we just kind of skirted around the whole thing. But the show took me to Kink.com in San Francisco. It's in this old armory building and pretty scary if you've never been in that environment. I volunteered to get hog-tied because I’ve never done anything like that. The guy who tied me up was like, "Oh my god lady. What the hell? I put you in one of the hardest ties I have. You can really take a lot of pain. Here’s my card. Call me.” I was like, “Hell no.” I don’t want to do that for a living. That’s kind of scary. But then I was like maybe I will. I had to try it. And I did. Then I started working for them.

SP: One of the most bizarre scenes I ever did was a public disgrace clip, which may still be ranked as their number one public disgrace. They took me to this bar where all the people there had signed releases saying they knew what was going to happen. Basically they just fucked me up. They were putting cigarettes out in my mouth and punching me. People were throwing beers in my face. I had to actually stop the scene and say, "Have you ever had beer thrown in your eyeballs?" But that was the craziest.

A: You stopped the scene because of beer in your eyes and not cigarettes being put out on your tongue?

SP: Honestly having a cigarette put out on your tongue doesn’t hurt as bad as you think... It doesn’t hurt as bad as having a beer thrown in your face and not being able to see.

A: Are the men you work with in fetish scenes just acting tough?

SP: Not really. They are pretty hardcore in real life. When I see how dominating they can be, I look at them differently.

A: Are you making as much money in porn as you were in pharmaceutical sales?

SP: Yeah, actually more now.

A: Is most of your work with Kink.com?

SP: I love Kink but I’ve done all the sites in their network that I want to do, and there are some sites that I just can’t do physically. I’ve been trying to do more mainstream stuff. My goal is not to be a bondage queen. I do personally like the more mainstream stuff, but I do do a lot of anal and things like that.

A: What kind of porn would you ideally want to shoot?

SP: I would love to do an Andrew Blake type film. That was the only porn I watched before I got into the industry. They are fairly exotic movies that have no noise except house music in the background. The girls are just so beautiful and they stare at you as they play with themselves and have sex. It’s pretty cool.

A: You don’t like to hear porn stars talking dirty or making sex noises?

SP: Not particularly no. That’s one of the reasons I was never a huge porn watcher growing up. I was like, "God. They sound like they’re in pain." Usually when I watch porn I turn down the volume.

SP: Only when I've watched some of my kink stuff and I’m like, "Oh damn! I’m really screaming there." I’m the worst though because I judge myself. I'm like, "My voice sounds too high... I should have moaned more there... Why am I silent for a second... I sound too nasally... Is that what I really sound like?"

A: I’m one of your new followers on Twitter, but why don't you have a Facebook or homepage?

SP: I’m getting help creating a Facebook page right now. That’s one of the things I decided this year. I realized that if I’m going to really dive into this and have it be my career, then I need to be more in touch with my fans. But I’m not computer savvy. I know how to use a computer. I can check my emails and things like that, but when it comes to the social networking thing I’ve never been one to put all my information out there and tell everyone what I’m doing. I'm getting better at it though.

A: Have you had any crazy fan mail yet?

SP: People send pictures of themselves and profiles as if I'm going to look at them and say, "Alright. Here you are. Six foot two, a hundred and thirty-five pounds and wow, you’re handsome, so I’m just going to come down and hangout with you." Others send love letters and cards, which is really sweet actually... Good for them for having balls enough to send me a letter like that.

A: Have you done any webcam work?

SP: I've done some for LA Direct Models. We actually have it set up at our house... It’s hard for me sometimes to keep up with the fans. I have all these messages coming in and I’m trying to keep up, say, "Hi, hi, hi," meanwhile they're typing more questions. Luckily I don't have to type my responses. That would never work. But webcam shows are cool. It’s just a matter of what you get used to. You’re just sitting there masturbating, and you can see yourself doing these things to yourself—-it’s kind of funny.
