One of our most under-appreciated and accomplished cultural institutions, The Florida Orchestra, is perennially coming up with inventive and generous ways to bring classical music to a broader audience. Lowering admission to their performances might be the ticket.
Beginning with the 2011-12 season opening in October, ticket prices will range from $15 to $45, which is a significant reduction from the current range of $20 to $67 for the Masterworks and Raymond James Pops series tickets. Within this new price structure, buying concert tickets will be easier than ever. Over half of all tickets will be available at $30 or less, and student tickets will continue to be priced at $10. Prices for the orchestras Coffee Series are currently priced below $45 and will remain affordable under this plan.
Buyers who may have believed a ticket to the symphony was beyond their reach will now find prices that begin to compete with the cost of going out to a movie. (Photo by Lori Ballard)
