Sara Romeo out in Tampa City Council race, GOP Republicans thwarting Obama on START Treaty, but is that a surprise? And dynamic new film on the Valerie Plame case hits Tampa Bay: Mitch Perry Report 11.22.10

Welcome to what for many will be a shortened working week.

Let's begin by sharing stories that we worked on over the weekend.  On Saturday night we learned that Tampa City Council candidate in District 1, Sara Romeo, was quitting her race after having worked on her campaign for over a year.

Also on Saturday we published our main feature that will be appearing in our newspaper out on Wednesday - that is the battle over whether the Tasting Room at Cigar City Brewing will stay or go when the council debates it a week from Thanksgiving.

Lots of people will be traveling this week, and unless you were on Mars you know there's been a big uproar - well, maybe not that big, but highly publicized outburst of anger for those airline passengers who decline a full-body screening, and instead are reporting getting, how do we say this? "felt up," maybe?  We've got lots to report on that issue.

We know Republicans in Congress main goal (as stated by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell) is to do whatever it takes to thwart Barack Obama from being re-elected in 2012.  So can we be surprised that they're trying to gum up a nuclear treaty with Russia?

You all remember the Joe Wilson/Valerie Plame/CIA leak from 2003.  A new Hollywood film, called Fair Game, was just released about that whole searing issue, and we think it's worth checking out.
