Stacy Burke: The notorious Fetish Con spokesmodel on the sunny side of fetish modeling (NSFW)

is  a modern-day, blonde Bettie Page — she often appears bound in playful costumes and smiling despite the ball gag in her mouth. In her backlog of over 100 adult films, Burke frequently plays the tied-up damsel in distress or the cock n' ball torturing super villain. She gained notoriety as one of Hugh Hefner's seven girlfriends and has since appeared in countless mainstream magazines, radio programs, and TV shows — most notably getting married in Vegas on an episode of The Girls Next Door. I caught up with Burke between photo shoots as she prepared for her appearance in Tampa as the spokes model for Fetish Con 2010.

Shawn Alff: As one of Hugh Hefner’s former girlfriends you got married in 2008 on the E! show, The Girls Next Door. As unbelievable as it sounds, it seemed you were too wild for the notorious party mansion. Did this have anything to do with your split with the iconic playboy?

Hef may have 'bought' their story, but I know better. I have never hid my past or my profession from anyone. In fact, a couple of the girlfriends that were behind 'exposing' me were at those same photo/video shoots that they did not want to be associated with. The REAL reason they wanted me out is because I ruined their curve. They wanted more money, power and fame than Hef was giving them. Whenever they would complain, Hef would answer, 'Stacy is okay with it.' Everything was cool with me. I thought there was room for us all, but they wanted more and they did not like sharing — they were getting greedy. I never knew women could be so devious, so corrupt, so mean. I really believe that they would stab their own mother in the back if they thought it would gain them more power, fame and money. They mistook my 'Polyanna' attitude as weakness. In the end I am happy to say karma came into play. I am still here and they are not.

SA: The fetish world has gained a reputation of being dark and demented. Have you received any backlash from hardcore fans for being too perky?

SB: If I do have a 'backlash' over my 'sunny side of fetish,' I have not witnessed it. All I do is what I know. I am not a 'poser.' I am just not into the dark, goth, vampire, tortured soul, serious type of fetish. I like it, but it is not for me. If you’ve seen the 1960s TV show, The Addams Family, I am like the blonde twin sister of Morticia.

I like the fun, campy side of fetish. That is just me. One thing this work has taught me is if I have a fetish, then someone else does as well.

SA: You often compare your life to movies and TV: you idolized old beach-blanket-a-go-go movies, your perfect man is like the nice underdog with a wild side in ’80s romantic comedies, and you were drawn to the limelight as a way of expressing yourself. Why do you think pop culture had such an influence on you?

SB: Pop culture not only had an influence shaping me, but practically everyone else in the world. My first words were not Mama or DaDa, but 'Batman.' When I was a baby my parents would sit me in my high-chair in front of the TV. I grew up as an only child. My grandparents raised me. The TV was my best friend. I had games, but most games or sports take more than one person to play. The only think I could do was pretend to have another person to play with or watch TV. My favorite re-run shows were Speed Racer, Kimba, The Monkees and of course Batman!

SA: You’ve appeared in over 100 adult films, often as the recurring superhero Crimson Hawk. Famed DC Comic artist George Perez, who will also be at Fetish Con, even made you into the Superheroine Daisy Chain. What drew you to fetish work as opposed to more vanilla forms of adult entertainment?

SB: Fetish gives me more creative freedom. Mainstream has so many rules, hoops you have to jump through, and you have to fit a certain demographic. With fetish modeling there is room for everyone because you will always catch somebody's eye — beauty really is in the eye of the fetish beholder. There's no such thing as cookie-cutter.

SA: What are some of the most frequent or unique requests you’ve gotten for custom videos?

SB: Bondage, in peril, wrestling, glue, robot... you name it. I love it. I never know what’s next!

SA: You’ve said that modeling and acting allow you to portray different sides of yourself. What side does fetish modeling unleash?

SB: I can be more of myself or be someone I always wanted to try out. I can be a dork, I can over-act, I can throw myself into a role, I can try things I never thought about, I can put myself in someone else’s shoes. It teaches me empathy, it teaches me how to overcome certain fears, it teaches me trust — you have to trust the others in the scene. It teaches others to be nonjudgmental, supportive, kind and understanding. I could go on and on.

SA: You own over 70 domain names. Are you so hyperactive that you actually have the time and content to fill all 70 websites, or are you just hyper ambitious?

SB: I have sooo many ideas but not enough time or knowledge to make them come into play, so I will buy a domain name that I have an idea for, then create something for it when the time comes. I am now not only the owner of all my domains, but I am also the web-mistress as well. I am in the process of linking all of my sites and domains at StacyBurke.com

SA: What would you be doing if you weren’t beautiful?

SB: Well, thank you, but since beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I think I would be doing the same thing. The thing I love about fetish modeling is that it is limitless. I've noticed that people have favorite models not only for their looks, but for what they represent. The model could remind them of a past girlfriend, a girl they had a crush on, the neighbor that they would spy on, the baby-sitter, the bully in school…

SA: How did you become the FetishCon spokeswoman and what can we expect at this year’s event?

SB: FetishCon was a domain I bought because I have always wanted a convention to accommodate all fetishes — even the fetishes that had a small fan-base. However, I am not skilled in creating or organizing a convention, so it was a blessing that Mike, Vesta & Geneses came into the picture. They are awesome and sooo good at what they do.

It is the 10th anniversary this year so anything can happen and probably will. You find the kindest, sweetest, smartest and most supportive people in the world at FetishCon. I love it. It is truly one of my dreams come true!
